Flight
We recommend flying directly into Rafael Núñez International Airport (CTG). The city is a 15-20 minute taxi ride from the airport. For our European travelers, there are flights operated by major airlines with different layover options (KLM, American Airlines, United, etc.) That said, an option to consider is flying through a major hub like New York (JFK) or Miami (MIA), and then flying from either of these locations directly to Cartagena. For instance, flying Dublin to JFK or MIA (round trip), then JFK to CTG (roundtrip) separately. This will break up the trip with less stopovers, and oftentimes result in savings. For travelers from the US, flying through Panama with Copa Airlines is an attractive option (from SFO), or from the East Coast, direct flights from JFK or MIA). *Please note Colombia requires COVID-19 vaccinations to enter the country.
Hotel
There are a variety of accommodation recommendations based on your preferred Colombia experience. We will also update this site with recommendations and potential hotel blocks (come back for these items): LOCATIONS: - Cartagena City Center (Centro Histórico) | Our primary recommendation for a unique experience of the walled city! Restaurants and museums line the streets and the wedding celebration will be held near the Plaza San Diego, so certainly the most convenient. There are dozens of boutique hotels from upscale locations like Sofitel, to more Bohemian options like El Claustro Hotel House. Let us know if you’d like any recommendations in a specific price range. - Bocagrande | Neighboring area for those who prefer the modern city, with beach access. All major hotels with resort style pools and beaches are available. Note these are public beaches designed for tourists with vendors. Recommend Hyatt Regency, though there are a plethora of other options. - Airbnb | A GREAT option for travelers who prefer to rent larger spots for groups. Airbnb has beautiful and very affordable options all across the walled city.
