Cartagena is close to the equator, so expect hot and humid climate. During the day, it's usually in the 80's and at night it drops down with a nice breeze. The walled city is full of cobblestone streets, so we do recommend comfortable shoes.

All events will take place in open air establishments. At this time, Cartagena is largely back to normal, with more than 80% of Colombians having at least one dose of the vaccine. We know the Covid situation is constantly evolving, so we will keep you posted on any changes.
Taxis. Uber works in Cartagena but there are not many drivers so it's most convenient to use a taxi. Show your driver the destination and agree on a rate BEFORE they start driving. Common rates: Cartagena Airport to Walled City: 20,000 pesos (~$6 USD) Walled City to Getsamani: 5,000-10,000 pesos (~$1.50-3 USD) Walled City to Bocagrande: 8,000-10,000 pesos (~$2-3 USD) When you arrive at the airport, there will be plenty of taxis waiting outside. ALSO download "INDRIVER" to call Taxi's like Uber. SUPER convenient, though flagging one off the street is also very easy.
Colombian Pesos, or COP. The exchange rate as of writing is $1 USD = ~4200 pesos or $1 EURO=~4300 (also in Colombia periods are often used instead of commas in currency). The best places to take out cash are ATMs. There's one in the departures area of the airport (you need to leave customs and re-enter the airport) and several throughout the Walled City. While there are cash exchanges all over, we recommend against them because the exchange rates are usually not as competitive. Credit cards are widely accepted. We recommend double checking whether your bank charges foreign transaction fees, and letting them know you will be traveling abroad to prevent your bank from freezing your card.
