Throughout their entire childhoods and into high school in little old Craig, Alaska, on the remote island of Prince of Wales, Patrick and Melissa have danced in and out of each others' lives ever since their parents first met and became friends in the 80's. Who knew that all that dancing and crossing of paths would give them the practice leading up to their lives now, having random dance parties in the kitchen while making meals together or sharing smaller spaces exploring southeast in the galley of Patrick's boat the F/V Diana Jean. I mean, this Alaskan Love Story goes way back, with proof of it in photos from 1992 on the Fourth of July where Melissa is posing in her red, white, and blue dress, with the biggest 3-year-old grin (yes, she's a little older than Patrick but who's counting), stomach full of the local parade candy, sitting proudly on seining net with her sister Katrina and mom Kathy, and Patrick's mom Alison who was *pregnant* with Patrick at the time snapped their picture! The stars must've been aligned that day, but it wasn't until ~31 years later that they would meet again, ready to give love a shot and effortlessly fall into a companionship that feels like one of the easiest choices the two of them have made. The familiarity, respect, love for family, love for their friends, love for adventure, and their commitment to one another has deepened the connection between the two of them even more.
