Welcome Dinner at the Historic Uilenburger Shul Synagogue

5:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Uilenburger Shul
Nieuwe Uilenburgerstraat 91, Amsterdam, 1011 LM, Netherlands

Cocktail Attire: cocktail dresses for women, slacks for men (no jeans please), jackets optional

Note: we're starting earlier, to accommodate Adrian's bedtime. We're sure you all want to see our little darling! Please join us at 5:00 for drinks and 6:00 for dinner. We will start with drinks and mingling, say a few blessings, and then feast on a delicious meal! Kids are welcome. Here is a bit more about the synagogue: the Uilenburger synagogue is a historic monument in the Louis XV-style. It was established in 1766 for the holding of Jewish religious services, and it served in this function for nearly 200 years. Following the Second World War, the building was used for various purposes, and has since been handed over by the Municipality of Amsterdam to the Uilenburger Shul Foundation. This foundation was set up in 2002 with the aim of giving the Uilenburger synagogue back its Jewish character and making it a social and cultural center for a variety of Jewish organizations.

Cocktail Attire: Wear cocktail dresses, LBDs (little black dresses), dressy jumpsuits, and dark jackets and slacks (no jeans please)

5:45 PM: The botanical gardens open, for our wedding guests only 5:45 PM - 6:30 PM: Have a drink and a bite and mingle at the Palm Greenhouse 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM: We marry in the Greenhouse 7:00 PM - 12:00 AM: Party in the Oranjerie and courtyard. We'll start with the traditional Jewish circle dance, the hora, and then enjoy food stations and live music. Hortus Botanicus is nearly 400 years old! It was founded in 1638 as an herb garden for doctors and apothecaries, as botanical extracts were the medicines then. A single coffee plant in the Hortus' collection served as the parent for the entire coffee culture in Central and South America!! The Oranjerie dates from 1875 and was used to store orange trees in the winter. The Palm House, where our ceremony will take place, dates from 1912 and is used to store palm trees. We are space constrained. Therefore, this event is adults only, except for babies. We can help to arrange sitters.
