How We Met

As told by Lisa

Andrew and I met in the Fall of 2013 at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh on the set of a Titan TV show that we were making for our campus TV station. And, well... we didn't really think much of each other. We ran in similar friend circles for a full year. When we returned to school in September of 2014 we were producing another TV show called "Comedy Kosh" together. It was on this show, spending every free moment of every day together, that I fell head over heels in love with him. We officially started dating on October 19, 2014. The way we met was fairly unremarkable, but little did we know that it would be the beginning of the rest of our lives. When I look back at those early days, to the two kids we were with big dreams, I'm filled with boundless gratitude to the memories we've made, love that we share, and life that we continue to build together.

The Proposal

As told by Andrew

Months before the engagement we went hiking for Lisa’s birthday on this trail called the Solstice Canyon Hike in Malibu, CA. At the deepest point of the hike lay the remnants of a burned down house as a result of the many wildfires the house encountered over the decades. As soon as I laid eyes on this location, I knew this was where I wanted to propose to the love of my life. There was one problem… Lisa knows I don’t like hiking! So, in order to preserve the element of surprise I needed to take up a new hobby in order to pull off the long con. Over these next few months Lisa and I would alternate picking trails all around the greater Los Angeles area. On the morning of Sunday May 2nd, I suggested we head back to Malibu. We arrived at the house once again and it was just as beautiful as the first time (As seen in our Engagement Photos). We must have been some of the first people on the trail because there was no one there. Only us. We stood in the “kitchen” where out of nowhere we started to dance. We were smiling and Lisa said to me, “It’s crazy that a family made their memories in this exact spot.” I couldn’t help but to be moved by the sentiment of this statement knowing what was coming next. We stopped dancing and walked deeper into the house. I asked Lisa to stop for a moment and got down on one knee. Her face read confusion at first and then it transitioned to shock. She had no idea this was coming. Mission success! I asked her to make me the happiest man in the world, by saying yes. Without hesitation she accepted. Just like that family had once made memories in this house, so did we.
