When should I RSVP by?

Answer

We kindly ask that you RSVP to all weekend events no later than September 1st via the RSVP page on our website.

Question

Will there be any COVID-related protocols?

Answer

The Mauna Kea was able to obtain a special exemption permit for our wedding, so all of our guests will be able to attend. The entire wedding will be held outdoors. There may be some additional requirements in place, such as mask wearing when not eating or drinking. We will keep this page updated with information as we learn more. In order to enter on domestic flights, Hawaii requires either proof of full vaccination or a negative test taken within 72 hours of departure, but we kindly ask that everyone vaccinated also get tested. Before you fly, you must register with the Hawaii Safe Travels online system at travel.hawaii.gov. For additional information and the latest travel updates, please visit gohawaii.com/travel-requirements.

Will the wedding be held outdoors?

Answer

Yes, the entire wedding—ceremony, reception and after party—will be held outside at the Mauna Kea. Please see our Events page for a map of the property and event locations (note that the after party will no longer be held in the ballroom and will instead be an outdoor silent disco).

Is there a dress code?

Answer

The attire for the wedding is Beach Cocktail. Think effortless-yet-refined beach wedding look. We recommend comfortable, breathable fabrics. The ceremony will be held on a golf course so we recommend appropriate footwear.

What will the weather be like?

October sees an average high/low of 86°/ 71° (F) on the Kohala Coast. Rain is very rare.

Can I bring a date?

Answer

As much as we'd love to give everyone a plus one, we have to adhere to a certain headcount. Your formal invitation will indicate if you are able to bring a guest.

Are kids invited to the wedding?

Answer

We love your kids, but we want you to have the night off! If you made this into a family trip (which we love!), the hotel can help arrange babysitters or you can book directly with Malihini Keiki Care.

Will there be transportation outside the Mauna Kea to/from the ceremony?

Answer

There will be shuttles running regularly from the Westin Hapuna Resort to the Mauna Kea. If you need a shuttle from Hapuna on the wedding day, please come down no later than 4:00pm.

Can I make a special request if I have a food allergy or dietary restriction?

Which dates do the discounted room rates apply at the Mauna Kea and Westin Hapuna?

Answer

The discounted room rates apply Monday, 10/11 through Wednesday, 10/20. You can book however many nights you'd like.

Question

Do the room blocks expire? When do I need to book by?

Answer

The room blocks will expire July 16th, at which point any unreserved rooms will go back into regular inventory. Please try to book before then, as we cannot guarantee rooms will still be available after that.
