Things To Do

Sanctuary Dairy Farm Ice Cream

Sanctuary Dairy Farm Ice Cream

209 New Hampshire Route 103, Sunapee, NH 03782
, (603) 863-8940

This is the best scoop shop in our area, and if you're lucky enough to come on a day when they have their Apple Pie ice cream, it's a must have! We also love the friendly sheep, donkeys, and goats and there is a playground for kids to run around.

M V Kearsarge Restaurant Ship

M V Kearsarge Restaurant Ship

1 Lake Avenue, Sunapee, NH 03782
, (603) 938-6465

This is one of the first things we did when we moved to Sunapee. The dinner is a buffet, but exploring the lake is the main event. The captain is great and shares all kinds of interesting facts about the lake along the way.

Nordic Skater

Nordic Skater

4 New Hampshire 103A, Newbury, NH 03255
, (603) 763-2727

We have our own paddleboards that we love to explore with, but you can head over to the Newbury end of the lake and rent some paddleboards to explore around Lake Sunapee with. We really enjoy finding the lighthouses. There are three on the lake.

Mt Sunapee State Park

This nice little beach does have an entrance fee, but it also has restrooms and a playground for kiddos.

Andrew Brook Trail

Andrew Brook Trail

Mountain Road, Newbury, NH 03255

We love taking Bo on this hike up Mount Sunapee to Lake Solitude. You'll reach the lake when you are almost to the end, but for views of the lake from the cliffs above, push a little further. This hike is about 4.3 miles out and back and can be very muddy in the spring.

Summit Trail Mount Sunapee

Summit Trail Mount Sunapee

1398 New Hampshire Rte 103, Newbury, NH 03255

Hike the summit trail starting at the Sunapee Lodge. This 4.1 mi out and back trail hikes you all the way to the summit. This was one of the first hikes we ever went on together. Just follow the trail and don't do what we did and hike straight up the face of the mountain... 0/10 do not recommend.

Cardigan Mountain State Park : Parking lot

Cardigan Mountain State Park : Parking lot

658 Cardigan Mountain Road, Orange, NH 03741

A 3 mile loop trail that provides 360 degree views at the top after about 1,100ft gain. If you're speedy like us, this will only take about 40 minutes to get to the top. It is often very windy, so bring a jacket.
