Recommendations

We recommend flying through Charlottesville (if possible) or Richmond. Charlottesville is very walkable and there are usually plenty of Ubers, so you don't necessarily need a rental car unless you want to check out the surrounding area. The two main areas are the Downtown Mall (E. Main St.) and the Corner (around University Ave & 14th St.). The Downtown Mall is a pedestrian mall with upscale shopping and dining while the Corner is the main college strip across from the University. The welcome party is near the Downtown Mall and the afterparty is on the Corner. You can safely walk from one to the other in about 20-30 minutes or take a quick Uber. There are a lot of great hotel and AirBnB options available in addition to the ones listed below. We recommend staying near the Downtown Mall (e.g., the Omni, Residence Inn) or the Corner (e.g., the Graduate, Courtyard UMC) for the best experience. As further described on the Schedule page, there will be shuttles between the Downtown Mall and the wedding, with a return stop on the Corner for those joining the afterparty.

Flight Options

Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport (CHO) CHO is the most convenient option, located about 20 minutes from downtown Charlottesville, with non-stop flights to NYC, DC, Charlotte, Chicago, Philadelphia and Atlanta. CHO offer car rentals through Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz and National. Taxis and Ubers are also readily available. Richmond International Airport (RIC) RIC is the next closest airport and offers a much better variety of flights than CHO. The drive from RIC to Charlottesville takes a little over an hour depending on traffic. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) / Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) DCA and IAD are approximately two-and-a-half hours from Charlottesville by car, although there can be significant rush-hour delays outside of DC. For guests planning to spend time in DC before/after the wedding, we would recommend flying through DCA. Both DCA and IAD offer metro service to DC.
