Hotel

Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa

1571 Poipu Road
Koloa, HI 96756
 (808) 742-1234

We've been to Kauai many times, and stayed at many hotels all over the island but the Grand Hyatt has always wowed us. The property is beautiful and it's a true resort that has something for everyone. Although we encourage everyone to explore this special island, if you decided not to, the Grand Hyatt is the perfect place to get settled in. We have arranged a discounted room block on the "Shipwreck Wing" of the hotel (the top right side wing shaped like an "L" in the pic above). The block consists of Standard Rooms, Pool View Rooms, and Partial Ocean View Rooms. The new link for booking through our wedding block portal is now live below (click “View”). For additional details about the room block, please visit our FAQ page.

House Or Rental

Airbnb More Your Thing?

Don't feel like doing the big resort or looking to have your own place for your vacay? Go for it! We want you to have an amazing experience and do what works for you. There are awesome homes and condos on Airbnb, VRBO, and KAYAK all over the island but try to stay on the South Shore (in between Koloa & Poipu) so you're always close by the group and wedding activities. In addition, there are many other hotel options throughout the South Shore and no one is usually more than a 5-minute drive from each other.

Rental Car

Do I Need a Rental Car?

We think so! Part of the wonder of Kauai is exploring the island and all the awesome local spots. Places can be a little spaced out and Ubers can take time. If you can't see yourself driving much we suggest sharing a rental with some friends. If you definitely plan on renting a car, the sooner you make the reservation the better to ensure the best rates. Check KAYAK, Pickup - Lihue Airport (LIH) or your preferred rental car company's site. They often have significant online discounts for paying in full in advance. Also - IslandRentalCars.com. There is an Avis counter at the Hyatt if you think you might just want a car for a day or 2 we suggest reserving one now (search for Avis - Poipu, not Lihue) as those can get scooped up quickly. Update - there has been a rental car shortage throughout Hawaii (and many US cities) due to companies selling off their fleets during COVID to stay afloat. Cars can still be found on Kayak and islandrentalcars.com although rates are high.

Travel Note

Shuttle Service to/from Airport

If you are not renting a car, we strongly suggest pre-booking a shuttle from the airport to the hotel or your accommodations. You may be rolling the dice with a long wait for an Uber or Lyft. Here are a few options - goairportshuttle.com robertshawaii.com speedishuttle.com kauaitaxico.com

Travel Note

Aloha Shuttle around the South Shore

For those skipping rental cars, they just added a new Kauai shuttle service that can take you around popular South Shore spots or up to Kapa’a. It's either $24 or $35 for an all-day pass depending on the route. It runs everyday from 930am to 900pm (Sun til 4pm) picks you up at the Grand Hyatt and takes you to a few of the spots on our "Things to Do" page including Old Koloa Town (where the poke-lovers Koloa Fish Market is) among many cool shops and restaurants as well as the Shops at Kukui'ula where you'll find a bunch more. Or you can head up north to Kapa’a which is definitely worth a trip.

Travel Note

Holoholo Ride Sharing

There's a brand new Hawaii-only ride-sharing app called Holoholo. Search for it in the App Store - Holoholo Mobility. Just like Uber and Lyft but exclusively for the Hawaiian islands. Rides on-demand or schedule in advance. Bonus - no surge pricing.

Flight

Lihue Airport

If you're coming, you're coming through Lihue (LIH). The airport is about a 25 minute drive from the Grand Hyatt and other hotels in the South Shore.
