Why Kauai?

It’s the first place we ever went on a real vacation together, almost 9 years ago. Neither of us had been before and we’ve been in love with it ever since. 4 more trips later and we still feel like the best versions of ourselves every time we step foot in Kauai. You know how certain places, when people say their names out loud, if you’ve been there, you have a instant physical and psychological reaction? They say the name, your eyes widen, you melt a little bit in your seat, head tilts, probably let out a little, “ohhhhh”, every part of your body relaxes, your heart warms, happiness is all you feel. We all have our places. Kauai’s ours.

So how long should I come for?

Answer

Up to you! We're gonna be here from Tuesday 7/13 and likely leaving Thursday 7/22. We'll be staying at the Grand Hyatt on the South Shore through the wedding then heading up to the North Shore for a few days of Airbnb'n after that. We know many of you are traveling very far across the country and this is your first time to Hawai’i or specifically Kauai, so we encourage you to make the most of it. It's a rare thing to get to vacation with your close friends or family. Plus, no one ever said they regretted spending too much time in Hawaii. TLDR: BARE minimum suggested stay: Arrive Thursday 7/15 - Depart Sun 7/18 Ideal suggested stay: 7-10 days if you want to explore the whole island.

What if the room type I want isn't available or displaying on the room block link?

Answer

We reserved a room block consisting of Standard, Pool View, and Partial Ocean View rooms (King & 2 Queen options for all types). If one of those types is sold out on the portal, don’t worry, just call the resort reservations line at 800.742.2353 (6am-2pm Hawaii time) and they will be able to book you one at our discounted “Delaney-Tabaian Wedding” rate. If you want a room type we did not reserve such as an Ocean View or one of their various Suites, then contact the hotel directly at the number above and they may be offered at a discounted rate as well based on availability. When do I need to book a room by?

June 15th is the cutoff date for our room block rate. After that prices are subject to availability.

Any COVID travel-related things we need to know?

Answer

Kauai announced a few weeks ago that they were rejoining the State of Hawaii's Safe Travels program on April 5th. This was great news because 1. It meant we could have our wedding in July and 2. It means that to avoid the mandatory 10 Day quarantine upon arrival all you need to do is submit a negative covid test within 72 hours of traveling to Kauai. More details here - https://hawaiicovid19.com/travel/travel-overview/ Now, a lot can change in a few months so this may or not still be required come July but we'll let you know what you need to do, if anything, well in advance. There's a good chance a negative test will still be required before traveling, but Hawaii is pushing to implement a "Vaccination Passport" program by May that will allow you to bypass required COVID-testing before arrival with proof of vaccination. We'll keep updating this page as we know more.
