if you're looking for some good, local food, we loved Gauva Smoked in Honolulu. Let us tell you...oh my goodness. Essentially we ate a plate of meat and have no regrets at all. It's a small hidden restaurant on the second floor, behind the CBD shop. The owners are so kind and definitely give great recommendations.
For a yummy breakfast/brunch joint, try Sweet E's Cafe. The corn beef hash is made fresh and is delicious. It's a BYOB establishment so morning mimosas with P.O.G juice (Passion fruit, orange and guava) is perfect to get your day started.
For an authentic luau, check out the Polynesian Cultural Center. unfortunately when we went, Covid prevented us from enjoying the experience. This is definitely on our to do list.
Marvin has an obsession with pineapples, so we had to go here! Don't let the name fool you though. The plantation not only grows pineapples year round, but they grow Cacao, bananas, avocados, and more! We did the pineapple express train which shows you around the entire plantation. Costs about $12/person. They also have a pineapple garden you can walk around or you can get lost in the pineapple maze. You definitely need to end the trip with a dole whip ice cream!
This place definitely gives you emotions. You can see part of the ship still in the water. You can feel the energy. There are 4 areas to visit, each area is about 2 hours long. We weren't able to see all because Covid had some places closed. Hopefully by September 2021, things will be open! Ladies, you cannot bring your purses bigger than a clutch. If you burn easily (like Linda does), we definitely recommend some sunblock.
Kualoa Ranch is such a fun place to see. Many know it as Jurassic world, but...did you know the ranch served a part in WWII and it was a sugar mill??? Oh and the activities! Kualoa offers a wide range of activities to do at different price points. ATV rides, horseback riding, different bus tours, zip lining, etc. Definitely take a look at the website and see what interests you!
Waikiki Beach has beautiful white sand and gorgeous sunsets! Where we were staying, the ocean was clear blue and there was a barrier so that tourists don't get pushed down by the massive waves. On the other side of the barrier, there are massive waves in which you can surf.
Oh my goodness. Blue Ocean is just a little walk in Waikiki. It's a food truck with like a gazillion choices. We had the grilled lamb chops 😋. Right next to the food is the dessert truck which had delicious ice cream sundaes and fried oreos! Then it's a walk back to the beach to burn off some of those calories.
