Since 1998, the Foundation has attended to the needs of thousands of Mexican children victims of burns, raising awareness of the needs of burn victims and establishing assistance programs. They also provide medical training for burned victims. The foundation was instrumental in helping Luis and his family procure adequate treatment for a burn accident he suffered when he was a child. Pinocchio is an association that helps children with burn-related injuries all over Belgium. It offers financial support such as the reimbursement of medical expenses, the cost of compression clothing, masks, ointments, etc. Many volunteers try to make the children's stay at the hospital more pleasant, by organizing weekly visits of a clown, purchasing toys for the playroom or simply staying by their side when their families can't. The association also aims at raising awareness in schools and other forums regarding the danger of burn injuries among children, or preparing the reinsertion of a child in his or her school after a severe burn injury.
