It was July 2020. Liliane was in her 6th month of classes, the 4th month virtually. She had left Peru to do her master’s in DC. It wasn’t the best year to study in another country, but she was trying to make the best of the experience. What she didn’t know was that she needed to be away from Peru that year to meet the man of her dreams. Alex was in his 4th month of teleworking. By this point, he had become an expert in banana bread and blueberry muffins, although he missed his routine in DC, a city where he spent time with his family and friends. What he didn’t know was that just a few kilometers away lived a Peruvian woman, who he hadn’t crossed paths with when he lived in Peru from 2011 to 2014. But that’s how it is when two people are meant to meet; they don't know when or how until it happens. And it did, they met virtually. After a month full of texts and video calls, where a screen didn’t stop them from talking and laughing nonstop, the day came to meet in person for the first time. They met in a park, talked for 3 long hours 6 feet apart, and wore masks when the distance was less. It wasn't the typical way to start a love story! And while Alex thought: what a lovely Peruvian girl, but why is she sitting so far away?!, Liliane wondered why that guy brought such a big pizza! It's been 4 years since this story started and the time has come to celebrate that pizza of the park with all of you! And although Peru was not the country where we met, our love for its culture, people and food unites us very much and we couldn't be happier that it is the place that will bring together both of our entire families and our great friends! Era Julio de 2020. Liliane estaba en su 6to mes de clases, el 4to de manera virtual. Había dejado Perú para estudiar su maestría en DC. No era el mejor año para estudiar en otro país pero intentaba sacar lo mejor de la experiencia. Lo que ella no sabía era que ese año tenía que estar fuera de Perú para conocer al hombre de sus sueños. Alex estaba en su 4to mes de teletrabajo. A estas alturas ya se había convertido en un experto preparando queque de plátano, pero extrañaba su rutina en DC, ciudad donde pasaba tiempo con su familia y amigos. Lo que él no sabía era que a unos kilómetros de distancia vivía una Peruana, que ni de casualidad se la había cruzado cuando él había vivido en Perú del 2011 al 2014. Pero así es cuando dos personas se tienen que conocer, no saben cuándo ni cómo, haste que sucede. Y sucedió, se conocieron de manera virtual. Después de un mes lleno de textos y videollamadas, donde una pantalla no impidió que pudieran conversar y reírse sin parar, llegó el día de verse en persona por primera vez. Se encontraron en un parque, conversaron por 3 largas horas a 3 metros de distancia y usando mascarillas cuando la distancia era menor. Definitivamente no la típica manera de empezar una historia de amor! Y mientras Alex pensaba: qué linda peruanita, pero por qué se sienta tan lejos?!, Liliane se preguntaba por qué ese chico había traído una pizza tan grande! Ya pasaron 4 años desde que inició nuestra historia y ha llegado la hora de celebrar esa pizza del parque con todos ustedes! Y si bien Perú no fue el país donde nos conocimos, nuestro amor por su cultura, gente y comida nos une muchísimo y ¡no podemos estar más felices de que sea el lugar que reunirá a nuestras familias completas y grandes amigos(as)! ¡Nos vemos pronto!
