We met online, through an app called Coffee Meets Bagel. A few messages in, we were making each other laugh, so we made plans to meet for coffee. At the last moment, Daniel realized that 9 p.m. probably wasn't the ideal time for coffee, so he suggested doing frozen yogurt instead. And that's when Jane realized he might just be a keeper. We hit it off quickly and sat there for hours talking—completely bypassing the normal first date small talk and diving right into a detailed discussion of life's big questions (a.k.a. Jane interrogated Daniel, and Daniel gave it right back.) The clerk must have realized the date was going well because, as Daniel puts it, he gave him the "bro nod" and let us stay at least an hour after closing to continue our conversation.
On our two-year anniversary, we went hiking at one of our favorite spots in the city: Fort Harrison. Daniel stopped to check the map and offhandedly mentioned that the light was really beautiful. Like clockwork, Jane shouted, "Let's get photos!" Jane didn't know it, but she was playing right into Daniel's plans. He snapped a few photos, then slyly switched his phone camera to video to capture Jane's reaction as he pulled out a ring. She was so excited she couldn't get the word "Yes!" out, so she nodded over and over again until Daniel slipped the ring on her finger.
