At the Pearl Harbor National Memorial, learn about one of the most pivotal moments in US history: the attack on Pearl Harbor, and the subsequent entry of the United States into World War II. Tickets are usually free but require a reservation and/or are normally first come first serve
Diamond Head is a volcanic cone on the Hawaiian island of Oahu and is the most popular Hawaii State Park. Diamond Head offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and Honolulu that you can hike to via a trail that takes you to the edge of the 300,000-year old crater. Now requires non residents to make a RESERVATION
A shave ice place where Obama himself has visited! Our favorite place to grab a shave ice! We recommend adding condensed milk. Liam loves Azuki beans They also serve a variety of other snacks including ice cream, cold drinks, bubble drinks, Candy, acai bowls, pitaya bowls, hot dogs, crepes, and assorted snacks (like chips/candy).
A fairly easy uphill hike. Completely paved and stunning views at the top. Whales are usually spotted at the top of this hike during the months of November-May. On a clear day, you can see the islands of Moloka‘i and Lana‘i
The beginning of this hike is very easy being that you follow the Makapu'u lighthouse trail (Which is paved). At the third rest stop, there will be a sign that talks about the whales, this is where you begin your descent to the tide pools. This trail will lead you to the tide pools Although it starts as a paved hike, have to climb down the mountain to reach these tide pools. Recommended only if you are not afraid of heights, don’t mind climbing DOWN a steep mountain, and are in decent shape. Please wear proper shoes to avoid slipping
The Battleship Missouri Memorial offers two different tours daily, with much more to explore on your own. The main tour is included in your General Admission ticket and takes you to the exact spot where WWII ended and is fully ADA accessible. Check out their website for ticket upgrades and recommendations before taking this tour
One of the most highly recommend shrimp trucks on the island! It is on the North shore so be prepared for a 40 minute drive. Recommend the shrimp scampi or the hot and spicy shrimp (if you think you can handle it). They only accept cash so be prepared for that
One of our favorite beaches to visit with clear beautiful water! Usually no waves so a good place to just relax and enjoy the water. Parking can be minimal at times so always best to arrive as early as possible
If you are up for a hard hike, the views would be worth it in the end. It is a straight shot up, but it has over a 1,000 steps as it is an all stair hike! The stairs are old railroad tracks that the military once used to transport equipment and supplies to the pillbox style bunkers on top of the crater. It is said Obama himself hikes this whenever he is on island
Another great Luau option. Also located inside Waimea Valley (our reception venue). Catch is that they are only going to be open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Packages include Flower lei, Cultural activities, Umu demonstration, Kava ceremony, Luau Dinner and a Polynesian show. Tickets also include admission to Waimea Valley- cultural site, botanical garden and Waimea Falls. Three separate packages determine your seating and how many drink tickets you receive.
Our favorite teppanyaki (hibachi) place to eat on island! It can be expensive ($30-$50 an entree). But it is a great experience and worth the price. Three locations available Entrees include crisp tossed green salad, grilled shrimp appetizer, teppanyaki vegetables, steamed rice (can be substituted with fried rice for additional charge), pickled vegetables, miso soup, Japanese green tea, and dessert. We love the steak and teriyaki chicken as well as the Matsu (Certified Angus Beef Sirloin, Chicken, and Lobster Tail)
Beautiful hike that Liam and I did together! Pretty moderate but has a lot of stairs toward the top! It is about a 4.7 mile hike with an elevation gain of 1,650 ft. On a clear day, you can look out and see some of the other islands from the top!
Looking for a thrill! Liam and I both went skydiving for the first time here in Hawaii. This place was great and we loved the experience. Something we will both never forget. The views up there are amazing. You get views of both the mountains and ocean! (yes that's me in the picture above!)
One of the many poke places on island that Liam loves! If you don’t mind raw fish, then it’s a must try while in Hawaii. Parking isn’t that great though so try to plan ahead before you go
Dole Plantation offers a variety of activities including the Pineapple Express Train Tour, the Plantation Garden Tour, and the Pineapple Garden Maze. See where Dole Pineapples are locally grown and get a variety of snacks/souvenirs from ther gift shop! DOLE WHIP is a must
One of the more touristy places for snorkeling. Reservations are required ($25 PER PERSON) and you have to pay for parking as well ($3 fee). Their website says only 300 stalls so it’s recommended to go as early as possible to get a spot since it fills up fast. Snorkeling equipment is available to rent or bring your own!
If you’ve ever seen the above picture on social media, this is the beautiful place to visit to see it! A beautiful botanical garden located on ACRES of land. Admission is free. Guided tours are available and you can even camp here overnight (permit required).
The most western point on the island of Oahu! It’s an easy, flat hike but it is kinda long and provides ZERO shade! So be sure to wear plenty of sunscreen and be prepared to walk 3.5 miles total! We’ve done it twice and loved it both times
A great restaurant that offers breakfast, brunch/lunch, happy hour, and dinner! We’ve only been for dinner but have heard great things about their brunch. A reservation is HIGHLY recommended since it’s a popular spot and a table is not guaranteed otherwise. Has great views of Diamond Head especially at sunset
