Frequently Asked Questions

Question

What are COVID restrictions in Hawaii?

Answer

Proof of vaccination and mask use is no longer required by the state of Hawaii!

Question

What should I wear? Is there a dress code?

Answer

Beach formal, semi-formal, or cocktail attire are all fine options for both the ceremony and reception. PLEASE NO JEANS

Question

What will the weather be like this time of year?

Answer

The average temperature in Hawaii is usually 85°. Tends to rain sometimes but usually never lasts a long time here

Question

Where are the ceremony and reception taking place?

Answer

The ceremony and reception will both take place up on the North Shore. A drive to the North Shore can take up to 40 minutes if there’s no heavy traffic so plan accordingly for that. More details on exact addresses and time will be sent with the invitation as well as posted on the schedule tab on this website

Question

What should I expect for the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony should only last about 20 minutes. It will be an unplugged ceremony meaning that we would appreciate your help by NOT using your phone during the ceremony! There will be plenty of time to take photos of the couple at the reception and we don’t want our professional photos ruined by even one phone in the shot! As of right now, the ceremony will only include immediate family and a few close friends due. When you RSVP online, it will show whether you have been invited to both the ceremony and reception

Question

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony will be take place outside on a beach. Please plan your shoes accordingly. Barefoot, sandals, and closed toe shoes are all acceptable. The reception will be indoors but dinner will be served on a lanai (outside patio). There will be A/C and fans at the reception

Question

What happens after the ceremony?

Answer

The bride and groom along with immediate family will stay behind to take some pictures after the ceremony. Reception venue is about a 20 minute drive from the ceremony location. You are welcome to walk around Waimea Valley (reception venue) as it is a beautiful garden with tons to see! Or take a walk around Historic Hale’iwa Town to explore shops while you wait for the reception to start. Reception venue should open at 4:30 pm and dinner will begin promptly at 5:00 pm

Question

What should I do if I can’t make it?

Answer

We need a final head count at least 2-4 weeks prior to our wedding day to inform our caterer. If you cannot make it, try to RSVP “no” as soon as possible though so we can try to plan accordingly ahead of that timeline. Thank you!

Question

How do I get to the venue?

Answer

You should be able to easily reach both the ceremony and reception venue using GPS. The addresses will be sent in the invitations and posted on this website in the “schedule” tab as well

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

It is recommended that you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the ceremony time so we can start right on time. I would say try to arrive as early as you can to find parking as it will be a Saturday. The reception will open at 4:30 pm so you can sign our guest book, get drinks, etc before dinner starts at 5:00 pm. Parking should be more accessible at Waimea Valley since the park closes at 4:00 pm

Question

Where should guests park? Is parking free?

Answer

Parking at Kawela Bay Beach Park is free and you are able to park along both sides of the road. The reception also has complimentary parking. Waimea Valley is open to the public but should close at 4:00 pm so parking shouldn't be much of a hassle at the reception

Question

Do you have a hotel block for guests? Where do you recommend I stay?

Answer

At this time we do not have a hotel block for guests. We do have some suggestions for places to stay mostly in downtown Honolulu on our travel tab. These are only suggestions and you are welcome to research more on your own! We recommend the Downtown/Waikiki area since that is where most of the better known hotels will be located and close to a lot of tourist attractions.

Question

When is the RSVP deadline? Do I need to mail back my RSVP or can I do it online?

Answer

We need a final head count for our catering no later than August 31st, 2022. Any RSVP’s after that deadline will not be considered. We do ask that you RSVP as soon as possible though so we can try to plan and save as much as we can for those who do plan on coming. We will be asking you RSVP online to save the hassle of sending us back RSVP cards

Question

Will food and drinks be served at the reception? What kind of food?

Answer

We will be serving a buffet dinner and having a cash bar Salad: Caesar salad - Baby Romaine, Pecorina Romano, Garlic Croutons & House Caesar Dressing Main Entrees: Kalua Pork - Wrapped in Ti Leaf & Slow Cooked with Cabbage, Garlic, Onion & Hawaiian Sea Salt Santa Maria Steak - Grilled Tri Tip, Citrus Cumin & Chili Rub served with House Chimichurri Sides: Rice - White rice with Furikake Grilled Mexican Style Corn - Cream, Queso Fresco, Lime and Chili

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

As of right now, I would prefer no kids to be allowed at our ceremony and reception. Our space is limited and I would prefer kids not be included. Unless otherwise requested or stated by myself, kids won’t be included in our guest list.

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

We do have a registry linked on our registry tab here on our website. As we have been living together for awhile, we don’t need much but it was created in case anybody wanted ideas on what to get us anyways. Gifts are not required whatsoever. We are currently registered at Amazon but similar gifts may be purchased from other stores as well! We are always open to cash or gift cards as well. Totally up to your preference

Question

What to expect from the cash bar?

Answer

According to our caterer, the cash bar will charge the following: Beer: $5.00 Wine: $7.00 Liquor: $10.00
