Things To Do

We're so excited to share a few of our favorite places in the area with you! There is a mix of fun places to go both in Pittsburgh & slightly further north, around our venue!
McConnells Mill

McConnells Mill

1761 McConnells Mill Rd, Portersville, PA 16051

Beautiful state park with hiking trails, waterfalls, a covered bridge & a mill! We took some of our engagement photos here and Lexi used to spend time here with her family while growing up! About 20 minutes from the hotels in Grove City, PA.

Primanti Bros. Restaurant and Bar

Primanti Bros. Restaurant and Bar

1895 Leesburg Grove City Road, Grove City, PA 16127
, (724) 748-9955

If you come to Pittsburgh, you HAVE to try a Primanti Bros. sandwich! Fresh bread, french fries, cole slaw and your choice of meat...what more could you want on a sandwich?! There is a location right next to the hotels but also a few locations including the original location in downtown Pittsburgh.

Duquesne Incline

Duquesne Incline

1197 West Carson Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219
, (412) 381-1665

A ride on the incline is another thing to check off of your Pittsburgh Bucket List! Take a step back in time on a century-old cable car and see the best views of downtown Pittsburgh while riding one of the few remaining inclines in the country. While you are at the top, on Mt. Washington, make sure to take in the views! TIP: You need exact change to ride!

Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball

Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball

115 Federal Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212
, (412) 323-5000

Go see a Pirates game in one of the most beautiful stadiums in the country! The Pirates are scheduled to play the Brewers on July 4th, 2021 (pending COVID). PNC Park has an amazing view of the city skyline in the outfield!

Kayak Pittsburgh North Shore

Kayak Pittsburgh North Shore

1 Federal Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212
, (412) 337-1519

Rent a kayak and paddle along the famous 3 rivers in downtown Pittsburgh! You'll be kayaking past the stadiums, downtown & under some of the famous bridges like the Roberto Clemente. Lexi loved doing this with her sister & cousins!

Strip District

Strip District

Pittsburgh, PA

It's not what it sounds like (haha)! In the early days of the city, the Strip District was an industrial neighborhood with foundaries, mills, then grocers and producers moved in. Now the street is filled with specialty stores, international retailers, and critically acclaimed restaurants. When in town, Thompson and Lexi always try to stop by to walk around, grab a coffee at Prestogeorge and pick up some delicious olive oil at Salonika Imports.

The Church Brew Works

The Church Brew Works

3525 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15201
, (412) 688-8200

An old church converted into a brewery...that's something you don't see everyday! Good food and beer! Thompson insists on stopping here pretty much every time we are in the 'burgh!

Point State Park

Point State Park

601 Commonwealth Place, Pittsburgh, PA 15222
, (412) 565-2850

Point State Park, located at the confluence of three rivers, is at the tip of Pittsburgh’s “Golden Triangle.” The park commemorates and preserves the historic heritage of the area during the French and Indian War. This is also where the city holds a great Fourth of July Celebration including fireworks (pending COVID).

Heinz History Center

Heinz History Center

1212 Smallman Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15222
, (412) 454-6000

This is a Smithsonian Affiliate museum all about the history of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania! If you grew up watching Mister Rogers, make sure to check out his exhibit as he was from the 'burgh! The museum is located in the Strip District.
