It's a classic modern day love story. Boy swipes right. Girl swipes right. Boy tells girl a funny dad joke. Girl couldn't help but give him her number. Boy asks girl out on a date and she says yes. Our first date was at Bar Louie on an especially cold Texas night on December 9th, 2016. We went out again a week later for dinner and some rollercoaster rides at the Kemah Boardwalk. We went out again to King's Bierhaus and then out again to Galveston Art Walk and we went out again and again. A few weeks later, Thompson realized he was in love with Lexi as she told him a funny story over some pizza at Kenneally's Pub. Lexi knew she was in love with Thompson after an amazing beach day full of sea glass hunting that ended with Thompson making Lexi's favorite meal...tuna nachos! The rest is history.
We were at the beach with Thompson's family in Fort Morgan, Alabama in June 2020. Lexi gave up on thinking “it” would happen on this trip, but to her surprise, Thompson was planning all week! On the second to last day, Thompson’s mom Ellison, set up a girls day of shopping and going out to lunch. Lexi didn’t think much of it, until all of the girls were avoiding her in Marshalls! Little did she know, they were on the phone planning with Thompson! On the way to dinner, Thompson insisted that we should be back for the sunset on the beach...however the wait at the restaurants was 3 hours!!! We decided to go to Hogwild BBQ, which was the restaurant that we first went to when Thompson met Lexi’s family 3 years earlier. Lexi realized something must be up, as Thompson was actually looking at and texting on his phone during dinner! While we were at dinner, Thompson’s family set up a beautiful candlelit champagne picnic on the beach. Once back at the beach, Thompson got down on one knee and asked Lexi to marry him under the stars! We were welcomed back to the beach house with confetti, balloons and celebratory drinks!
