This is a place that I (Lexi) have always enjoyed ever since I was little. It's a little bit of a drive up the scenic North Shore but totally worth it. I love coming here year round, swimming in the summer and taking beautiful ice covered pictures in the winter.
Another staple place to visit up the north shore. If you've never been or if it's been awhile, take the time for the drive. We love going up there and walking around and seeing the Falls all year round.
Every year for our anniversary we always come here for dinner, and the occasional date night. We love the food and the atmosphere.
On your way home from Gooseberry, don't forget to stop here and get something delicious. We usually only get pie, but the food they offer is amazing too!
Ely's Peak has always been one of my favorite hikes since high school. There's a trail along the Superior Hiking Trail that you can take, the abandoned train tunnel and a climb up to the top that takes about 20 minutes. Take a drive through West Duluth into Gary. Immediately upon arriving into Gary/New Duluth take a right on Becks road. Down the road, about a few miles, and there is a small paring lot and you're there. Keep a good eye out for it on the right hand side as it is easy to miss.
In the heart of Canal Park is Hoop's Brewing company. They have an excellent selection of craft beers and some ciders. The atmosphere is always a fun time with dozens of board games to play and even a ping pong table.
I know, another Brewing Company? This one is extra special, grab a craft beer or cider, and head over to the Axe Throwing! It is such a fun time, and even if you've never done it before they teach you the proper way to throw and help you along the way to help improve your skills.
