The welcome party, ceremony, and cocktail hour will be outside and reception will be outdoors in a tented area. It may get chilly in the evenings so please plan to bring any layers or your attire accordingly.
Yes - a 35 person shuttle will run back and forth from the Best Western in Kilmarnock to the Tides Inn from 2:30pm - 4:00pm and again from 10:00pm - midnight. We've got a big party so please don't wait for the last shuttle run to get to our ceremony or home at the end of the night!
For the Welcome Party on Friday night, attire is casual. We'll be on the beach right on Carter's Creek at the Tides Inn, and will have bonfires and cornhole games. Shorts, sandals, and nicer tees are all fine - just don't show up in sweatpants or we will judge you! (kidding, mostly) For the ceremony and reception, attire is cocktail/semi-formal - cocktail dresses, gowns, suit pants and shirt, suits, etc. We'd love you to look pretty and feel your best in whatever is comfortable but what a great excuse to get a little fancy! All of our events will be on grass lawn, so please plan footwear accordingly.

Unfortunately, unless you are staying at the Tides Inn, you are not permitted to utilize the amenities at the resort (i.e. pool, kayaks, pickleball courts, etc.). However, we encourage you to come participate in any of the parts of the resort that are open to the public, including apiary tours, oyster ecology tours, art classes, and their incredible onsite restaurant. Please see the website for the Tides Inn for a list of the activities/tours available during the weekend!
Each person who violates the pool curfew will be sending Jessie and Alex $500 via venmo - this is the charge PER PERSON for after-hours pool violations. WE REPEAT - DO US AND YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT JUMP IN THAT POOL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! You do not want to face the wrath of Jessie. Seriously.
Plan to come HUNGRY! Friday night at the Welcome Party, beer and wine are on us! Cocktails/liquor will be available as a cash bar option. We'll have pretzels/chips if you like a snack! On our wedding day, cocktail hour will feature signature his/hers drinks, an open bar, and hors d'oeurves. We will have an oyster station with both raw and roasted oysters with all the accoutrements. Other passed appetizers will include Gorgonzola tarlettes with pecans and bacon jam, Teriyaki glazed beef with sweet chili sauce, Crab cakes with remoulade, and Tapenade, local goat cheese and sun-dried tomatoes on a baguette. During the reception we will have family style dinner, table wine service and the bar open until the end of the reception. Our starters during the reception will be She Crab Soup and Arugula Salad with Shaved Fennel and Radishes, Crumbled Feta Cheese, and Red Wine Vinaigrette. Mains will be Herb Baked Salmon with Roasted Corn Succotash, Scallions, Thyme, and Chardonnay Butter and a Petite Filet Mignon with Potato Puree, Garlic Green Beans, and Bordelaise Sauce. No need to select a particular dish in your RSVP as you'll have options for both main dishes, but please let us know if you have dietary restrictions, allergies, or request a vegetarian dish! Dessert will be assorted pies (both fruit and chocolate/sweet) - lots of options to choose from! The afterparty will have late night snacks provided (think sliders, fried mac and cheese balls, french fries, etc.) and a cash bar.
Since we will have a tented reception on the Fairway lawn, we will have a rented luxury toilet nearby the tent for use with 3 toilets, and a short walk away in the lobby of the Tides Inn the facilities inside are also available, and there are restrooms closer to the Fish Hawk restaurant where our after party will be held.
There should be ample parking at the Tides Inn for those driving to the ceremony and reception.
There are a very limited amount of Ubers/lyfts in the area - please be smart and safe if you plan on enjoying a few beverages!
We kindly ask that you refrain from taking photos or using your phone during our ceremony - we would much prefer that you are able to fully enjoy that special moment with us, and we’ve hired an incredible photographer to capture it all!
