Our Story

The Heart Is A Muscle, Too.

Lewis & Chelsea first met on May 2, 2015 in the competitors’ backstage area of the Mr. Natural Philadelphia bodybuilding competition in Plymouth Meeting, PA. Lewis was competing in the men’s bodybuilding division, and Chelsea in women’s bikini. In the sea of orange spray tans and ratty black sweatpants that most competitors wear backstage, Chelsea wore a flowered yellow sundress. That yellow sundress grabbed Lewis’ attention immediately, and he just knew somehow that this girl was special. After eyeing her all day, Lewis finally worked up the courage to congratulate Chelsea on winning her class and kick-starting the conversation. Chelsea tried to seem intelligent and funny in conversation, while Lewis’ best tactic was to regale her with the story of the time that he ate so many peach ring candies following another bodybuilding competition that his eyes completely swelled up from all of the sugar and made him look, in his words, “like a fat asian baby.” While Chelsea is still trying to decide how she feels about that story to this day, she did know right then that this guy was very cute and seemed sweet. However, she was dismayed to learn that Lewis lived 5 hours across the state in a tiny town called Clarion. Nevertheless, when Chelsea was getting ready to go home that night, she looked for Lewis again to try to give him her number...but he was nowhere to be found. Thinking “oh well, guess that’s that,” Chelsea left. A few days later, Lewis completely-accidentally-definitely-not-on-purpose found Chelsea on Instagram through the competition’s hashtag. The two flirted back and forth through comments for a few days, but then Lewis deftly slid into Chelsea’s DM’s with a selfie of himself and his beautiful siberian husky, Mada. The rest, as they say, is history.

Our Engagement

Spoiler Alert: Chelsea ruined it.

On October 9, 2020, Lewis and Chelsea were packing for their annual vacation, which that year was to Seattle and Mount Rainier. Chelsea was so excited for vacation that she'd already been packed for days, and had been badgering Lewis to get himself packed up as well. Six hours before their 6:30am flight to Seattle, Lewis finally started to pack. Unable to sit idly by and watch, Chelsea decided to help. She reached into the front pocket of Lewis' carry-on to empty out any trash that may have been in there and her fingers settled around something small and box-shaped. Lewis immediately snatched the bag away from her, yelling, "NO NO NO NO! THERE'S A PRESENT IN THERE!" Being that Chelsea is not a complete idiot, she had a pretty good idea of what was in the box, but decided to drop it and tried to forget what she felt inside the bag (which of course she couldn't). On October 13, 2020, Lewis and Chelsea arrived back at their cabin in Mt. Rainier after a quick Tex-Mex dinner. It was completely dark outside and chilly. Chelsea came inside and started taking off her boots and coat, but Lewis was still puttering outside, going in and out the front door and shuffling stuff around nonsensically. Chelsea asked what exactly he was doing, and he said, "I'm taking pictures!" "...In the dark?" (If this story should teach you anything, it's that Lewis is a very, very bad liar.) Chelsea had a pretty good idea what was happening, so when Lewis finally asked her to come outside to front steps of the cabin, she already had major butterflies in her stomach. Lewis gave her a long kiss, then got down on one knee and asked Chelsea if she would do him the honor of marrying him. To no one's surprise, she said "yes!" and Lewis sealed the deal with a kiss and the antique engagement ring of Chelsea's dreams.
