Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Lewis Kramer and Quinn Parker

Explore Truckee's Historic Downtown

Truckee's downtown is really cute, with loads of great cafés, restaurants, shops, and bars. The downtown is also close to the Truckee River and riverside trails for some easy nature time. Some of our personal favourite restaurants/bars/coffee shops in Truckee Downtown include Alibi Brewing Company, Coffeebar, and Squeeze In. Just outside of the downtown are a bunch of other great places, namely La Bamba, Drunken Monkey, Tacos Jalisco, and Zuri Coffee.

Local Hikes and Bikes

There are BUNCHES of amazing hikes in the Truckee/Tahoe area. Loads of them are on apps like All Trails and Strava, as well as at the link below. Wherever you go, watch out for the altitude and the sun! Truckee is around 6000 ft above sea level, and Donner Summit/Lake Mary is at 7300 ft, so wherever you go, take plenty of water and sunscreen (the UV is mega!). If you're into cycling/mountain biking, then you're in for a treat! There are a load of amazing trails around Truckee for riders of all abilities. Our favourite trails for chill rides include Legacy Trail (along Truckee River) and out to Martis Valley (near Truckee airport). If you fancy a bit of dirt, then we recommend Sawtooth Trail and trails on Jackass Ridge (El Burro and Donkey Town). Both are close to Truckee and medium difficulty :)

Donner Lake

Truckee, CA 96161

Donner Lake is between Truckee and Lake Mary (where we're getting married!), and is a stunning local place to hang out, go for a swim, and maybe do some watersports. There are several restaurants around the lake for food, and wooden piers that you can book and relax on (or you can just chill on the beach ;) ). Watch out though, the lake is fed by snow melt, so it's kinda chilly!

Lake Tahoe

If you need more lake time, there are few better than Lake Tahoe! North Lake Tahoe is about a 25 min drive from Truckee, with tonnes of activities to do! Kings Beach and Incline Village in the north of the lake tend to be a bit quieter than the south of the lake, with loads of little beaches dotted around for relaxing and swimming. We have made the trip down to the south of the lake on a couple of occassions, mainly to see Emerald Bay - it's one our favourite places. It's gorgeous, but a badly kept secret. So if you're gonna go, go EARLY to beat the rush. While Lake Tahoe is stunning, it is a LONG way from Truckee and Lake Mary, so we don't recommend looking at accommodation in South Lake Tahoe (there should be plenty of options in Truckee anyway).
