Sofia’s side of the story: We met on Saint Joseph’s feast day in the Saint Joseph’s parking lot to carpool to a Latin Mass. So I guess St Joe has been looking out for us since day 1. Unfortunately we ended up riding in different cars - but I was highly aware of Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome sitting at the other end of the pew. We got back to Athens and parted ways and I was so mad at myself for not inviting him to join us for a really late dinner. I sat across from Vinny and texted Trent to ask him to play Catholic Bachelorette (a game I totally made up but that is very loosely based on the show The Bachelorette). Trent seemed to find the idea amusing but wasn’t taking my hints to set me up with Colton. My next meeting with Colton was when he came to St James one Sunday and I was telling him all about how active I was in my parish. He seemed far more impressed with the selection of donuts on the table behind me as he talked about how he wanted to be a priest... ”oh how the turn tables.” -Michael Scott Colton’s side of the story: I feel like I met Sofia for the first time twice. The very first time I met her was on the Feast of St. Joseph. I was carpooling from St. Joseph’s in Athens to a Latin Mass in Atlanta with a couple new friends of mine. As the time to leave approached, suddenly a car tore into a parking lot. From it emerged an angry looking girl with dyed black hair and a black dress. She was pretty, but much too goth for me I thought. (This is the part where she reminds me that the dress has flowers on it. Idk, they could have been goth flowers.) We took two cars to Atlanta, so I didn’t get to talk to her much on that trip. A few months later I visited the church my friend Trent, who organized that first trip, is the music director at. After mass I met a happy, talkative brunette girl who looked familiar. I thought to myself, “that can’t be Vinny’s goth sister, what happened to her?” I returned to St. James almost every Sunday after that.
