In this day and age, romance is seldom forged in real life through chance connections; instead, dating apps rule the scene. Hinge was the hottest app of the time with a tagline of being "the app designed to be deleted". Through Hinge, the stars aligned and Zachary found Alexis's profile. For those unfamiliar with Hinge, there are photos and conversation starters on a profile that prospective love interests can "like" as the first move in the courting ritual. Having found Alexis's profile, Zachary carefully, or maybe casually, chose a picture of Alexis in an attempt to match! What picture captured his curiosity (and heart)? Alexis holding a dove in the cemetery. First move being made, the ball was in Alexis's court. Those familiar with "the apps" know that there are many a man to a few women in ratio. Nevertheless, Alexis chose to respond to Zachary. Having examined his profile with intensity, she responded to his conversation starter about "being on the same page about suntanning and roller coasters". One might assume that this is a match made on affinity for thrills and catching rays -- not so. Alexis responded, "I don't tan because it's bad for my skin and I vomit on roller coasters. Probably the wrong answers..." The world stood still on that throwaway response, but Zachary was hooked.
