The Embers - Cute garden patio with great ambience and a funky menu! Owned by a fellow Clevelander, the food isn't quite Mexican but not your typical American either. Bone marrow app and spicy green beans are excellent as are their cocktails! Taco stand across from the Embers - Lea's favorite! $1 tacos, excellent salsas! La Rustica - The place to go in town if you feel like Italian. Also the octopus dish is excellent! Mary's - Catty-corner La Rustica, go to Mary's for traditional Mexican. No flare's small restaurant, plastic outdoor tables, with great food! Tierra Viva- Great breakfast options! If you're in the mood for eggs Benedict this is the place. Chaman's- on the north side of town in the sleepier area. good size bar and patio, bigger than most in Sayulita. Friendly, good food and beverages, live music most nights. Sports Garden- Newer American style restaurant/bar. The place to go if you're trying to find sports coverage for something.
If you want to do more than enjoy the beach and good food, there are many activities and day excursions...
Usually a 4-5 hour trip, all boats leave from the south beach, and captains charge for panga and gas (the number of people does not affect price). Expect to pay around $350 and potentially see dolphins or whales, though its is out of migration season for the best whale watching.
There are endless places to rent surfboards or take lessons in Sayulita. There are surf shops in town or simply tents on the beach that will have boards or give you lessons. You can rent boards for an hour or a week!
Ally Cat Tours is based in Sayulita and offers numerous daytime or sunset cruise options!
Hike through the lush jungle to get to Playa Las Cuevas or check out Monkey Mountain for a challenging workout with amazing views.
One of Nayarit’s aquatic gems where you can go snorkeling, diving, and exploring by boat. Part of Mexico’s National Parks, take a panga boat ride over to the islands (located off Punta De Mita). You can swim on a private beach/cave and check out the cliffs.
This town is a 10-minute taxi ride north of Sayulita. The next town over is what Sayulita was 5-10 years ago. This town is slightly quieter, with just as much character and stunning sunsets. Check out Tiera Tropical Beach Club if you want to relax away from all the chaos.
