The largest airport to fly into is Denver International Airport, which is a 4-4.5hrs drive from Crested Butte. While Denver is further away than Gunnison, the flights are also less expensive and more frequent. Renting a car should be easy, and the drive to Crested Butte is gorgeous.

Montrose is approximately a 2 hour drive west of Crested Butte. It is a common airport to fly into for those traveling to Telluride, Colorado, which is a 1.5 hours drive from Montrose. If you do travel from Montrose, please be mindful of Highway 50's Little Blue Creek Construction (https://www.us50info.com).
