San Gimignano
Known as Medieval Manhattan, San Gimignano is known for the excellent preservation of 1400s architecture, particularly its towers. There's an AirBnb in the top of the tallest one, if you're interested!
Gelateria Dondoli
Voted the world's best gelato — seriously. Don't fall for the imitator across the square; look for Dondoli. Also keep an eye out for proprietor, Sergio, who looks like a distant cousin of Larry, Father of the Bride!

Feeling brave? Our hosts at Guardastelle are happy to help you organize an afternoon Vespa tour or horseback ride. For the more horizontally inclined, there are local spas, or have a picnic (packed by our hosts) on Guardastelle's beautiful grounds.
Florence
Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance, is only an hour's drive away. Home to the Duomo of Santa Maria del Fiore, Michelangelo's "David", and the Fountain of Neptune, you can't go wrong spending an afternoon here.
