Lauren first met Katie at Miles's birthday sour beer tasting. Lauren thought Katie was quiet and a bit science-y, and Katie thought Lauren was cheery and chill, but they didn't interact much. After hanging out together a few more times, Katie asked Lauren to be her gym buddy to keep up her motivation. The more they worked out together, the more they wanted to do other activities together, like Target runs, watching trashy movies, or just chit-chatting about life and watching music videos. They bonded over Harry Potter, books, and Spongebob gifs. Even though Katie moved to San Diego in 2020, they still remain in almost constant contact with FaceTime and texting. Lauren is proud to call Katie her best friend, and hopes they can cultivate and grow their friendship for the rest of their lives.
JD Maldonado
Best Man
JD's response to Miles asking him to be best man was "I better be." JD and Miles are cousins, but ever since they were kids they have felt more like brothers. As kids and teenagers it was rare to see one without the other on the weekends. They grew up being very competitive with each other, whether it was sports, video games, or wrestling. As they have grown older, though, they have slowly shifted away from being in competition and more toward rooting for one another. One thing that Miles never would have admitted as a child, but can happily say now, is that JD is the most naturally talented person he has ever met.
Halie Abarr

Halie is Miles’s sister and became a permanent fixture in Lauren’s life when she and her husband Alberto moved to Boulder in 2016. Lauren was stuck with her whether she liked it or not. Thankfully through the years of kitchen dance parties, Friends watching, nights at Press Play, and occasionally sharing eye rolls over a comment Miles would make, Halie went from Miles’s sister to Lauren’s bridesmaid. They’re both thrilled to soon call each other family.
Paul Schroeder

Paul and Miles shared their first research project together in graduate school. They both decided jointly to leave the project about one year into it, and have since become amazing friends. Paul and Miles have had some great adventures together mountain biking in Colorado, traveling through Europe, and grinding out grad school to completion. Miles considers Paul to be one of his favorite conversationalists, and the two of them have debated everything from politics to science to philosophy. In 2015 Paul and Miles took their friendship a step further once Paul's new girlfriend Katie started to become best friends with Lauren. The four of them have since become like family.
Chelsea Mohn

Chelsea was the new kid in middle school, and after a couple years she and Lauren became virtually inseparable. They were always at each other's houses watching Spongebob and reading Harry Potter. Lauren loved that Chelsea always had everything bagels with butter to offer for breakfast after a sleepover. They kept a running list of inside jokes for years (and still regret they lost it). As life got busy and they both moved away from Arizona, they lost touch. But one year Lauren decided to write Chelsea an old-fashioned letter. When she got it, Chelsea immediately went out to buy colorful gel pens wrote her back. They traveled across the country to visit each other a few times over the years. After many more letters, Lauren and Chelsea still talk about life's tough stuff regularly.
Jeff Cordial

Jeff was Miles's dorm roommate in their freshman year of college, and they pretty swiftly started to enjoy each others' company. The both of them remained roommates for most of their college careers. Jeff's brother Jon made the big mistake of teaching them how to play beer pong freshman year, which led to Jeff and Miles going on an epic 17-0 winning spree at various sorority and sports team parties to start out their storied careers. Setting aside the drinking and partying, Jeff and Miles have always had a lot in common, from sports and activities to politics. They have managed to maintain a great friendship well after college, even while living in different states.
Omarah Macias

Omarah organized the Boulder carpool for 4 nursing school students, and Lauren first thought, "This girl is a lot." After many drives to and from Aurora, study sessions, and spontaneous pizza dates, Lauren and Omarah became super close. Although the COVID-19 pandemic kept a lot of people apart, it actually brought them even closer together. Omarah makes sure to text Lauren every day to check in, and Lauren texts goodnight almost every night. They share a love for Sweet Cow ice cream and social justice. Lauren helps Omarah edit application essays, and Omarah sends Lauren all of her immaculate study guides. Their friendship is still growing and they continually learn more about each other. They hope to be lifelong friends who help each other sparkle.
Chris Malvey

Miles remembers the first time he met Chris was when Lauren and Miles were hosting a karaoke party at their house in Boulder. Since then Chris and Miles have become better and better friends, going on ski trips, discussing their favorite beers or food recipes, and as of late playing a lot of golf. Chris and Miles will be going into the 2021 season as defending champs of the Indian Peaks Men's Golf League Member Guest Championship of Lafayette, Colorado. Where they go from here seems limitless.
Katie Pemberton

Lauren and Katie have been friends for a few years, but have grown closer over the last two. They share a love for children, sunshine, and ice cream. Katie was thrilled when Lauren chose nursing school and together, they have tackled countless academic challenges and snowy trips to Aurora. They cherish coffee shop study sessions together and are always down to hike with the pack of dogs. Katie is keen on word play, and she can always count on Lauren to laugh at least half-heartedly at the silly puns she makes. Katie has a knack for sharing all her feelings, and Lauren appreciates her vulnerability in all situations. Katie is so proud of Lauren's recent academic and personal accomplishments and is thrilled to see Lauren and Miles take the next step in their journey together.
Matt Sisson

Matt has been a staple of the Boulder friends group that Lauren and Miles have been a part of the past several years. Matt and Miles have played many board games and been to many nights out on the town together over the years. They have enjoyed each others' company at camping and ski trips, and they have had many political discussions that we won't get into here. Matt is a guy that is always around when you need him, and always down to have a good time.
Ayla Hasstedt

Lauren lived with her sister Sara for almost her whole pregnancy with Ayla. Once Ayla was born, she and Lauren had an incredible bonding experience. Lauren often babysat Ayla and had designated "auntie time" with her. Although she moved out after Ayla was 8 months old, they still share a special bond. Ayla is an inquisitive girl who loves to steal all of her auntie's attention. She also has been dying to be a flower girl, so she could not be more excited to be on the flower girl squad for Lauren and Miles's wedding!
Jemma Hasstedt

Jemma is one of the sweetest, silliest girls Lauren has ever known. She is sensitive and feisty, and also enjoys designated auntie time. She and Lauren have bonded over Target runs, learning how to braid, and candy canes!
Sofia Hernandez
Flower Girl
Lauren and Sofia have a special bond after living together for over a year. Sofia tried her hand at being a flower girl for Katie and Paul's wedding in 2019. It did not go super well for her, but 2021 is definitely going to be her year. She will be walking down the aisle with Ayla and Jemma, who are all obsessed with each other. This flower girl squad is going to be the best ever!
Luca Hasstedt

Luca is a little miracle of a child. He survived open heart surgery at 10 days old, and has been thriving ever since. He is so fun and joyful, he brings light to Lauren's life. He doesn't know it yet, but he is going to be a great ring bearer!
