Nowadays it is typical for couples to meet online, but back when Lauren and Miles met 8+ years ago, they were pioneers. Their first date was at The Laughing Goat coffee house in Boulder. Miles was skeptical when Lauren decided not to order coffee, but then it was not long before he was charmed by Lauren’s warm personality and beautiful smile. After a good long chat, they took a stroll down Pearl St to Lauren’s car where they had their first kiss.
They booked a Denver "staycation" for the weekend. Lauren was under the impression it would be a #treatyoself weekend of eating and drinking in the city. Miles had other plans. Miles went to the hotel to get settled and finish his work day while Lauren got a mani/pedi (the pink nail polish was appropriately called #treatyoself). When she met Miles back at the hotel, she freshened up for dinner. Before leaving, Miles said he had some words for her to set the tone for the weekend (her top love language is words of affirmation!). Miles started off talking about how Lauren had brought up the importance of marriage, and he wanted to say words to make her feel secure and happy. (Lauren was battling in her mind with herself, "Is this a proposal?" "No, it couldn't be, I would have known about it." "He's just going to give a little speech and say cheers!") Then Miles said he got something for her, and she said "No, you didn't." And he pulled out the ring and said, "Will you marry me?" She freaked out, "Are you for real right now?" "Obviously yes!" "What??" The surprise didn't end there! They celebrated just the two of them that night, but Miles had planned a gathering in the park with friends and family for the following day. It was an unexpectedly magical weekend and it was perfection.
