Things To Do
To Do at Palisades (no car needed):
- Hike one of the many trails at Palisades
- Visit the Olympic Museum
- Roller skate or play disc golf up at high camp
- Rent a bike and bike in the mountains or to the lake
- Take the free shuttle (https://tahoetruckeetransit.com) into downtown Truckee for cute shops, restaurants, and coffee shops. We like Squeeze In for breakfast which was featured on Food Network.
To Do near Palisades (car needed):
- Drive down to Tahoe City to visit the lake. From there, you can rent kayaks or paddle boards.
- Take a boat tour on Lake Tahoe
- Hike a portion of the Tahoe Rim Trail which goes around the entire lake
- Bike or walk the East Shore trail (next to the water and paved)
- Visit Virginia City for historic tours and saloons
Trips outside of the Tahoe area:
- San Francisco (4.5 hour drive)
- Redwood Forest (6 hour drive)
- Yosemite (3 hour drive)
