Meet us in the mountains!

Matt grew up skiing every year at Lake Tahoe and considers it his favorite place in the world. After meeting a judge during law school, and finding out that her court was located near the lake, Lauren applied for and accepted a clerkship at the Supreme Court of Nevada located near Reno/Tahoe. Lauren and Matt will be living in Reno, NV from September 2025-September 2026. After what will hopefully be a fun year of hiking, enjoying Lake Tahoe, and skiing, we're so excited to culminate our year out west by sharing the area with everyone at our wedding.

In winter 2020/2021, Matt and Lauren were both living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Matt spent his days locked in a lab building less than a half mile from Lauren's apartment. As fate (or the Hinge algorithm) would have it, we matched on a dating app when Matt asked Lauren what law schools she was applying to. Due to covid, we had our first date outdoors, in the Michigan winter (it was probably below freezing), at a bar, talking for hours, just for each of us to go home and continue texting the rest of the night. Our early dates included cooking dinners, riding bikes, and doing a tough mudder. When Lauren left for DC to start law school, we started our long distance relationship for 2 years - one year of which Matt was in Michigan, another year in Boston. It was tough, but we found time to watch tv together on facetime every Sunday night (we finished Lost, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, and Ozark), spent Lauren's school breaks together, and got to spend our first Christmas together quarantining after Lauren got covid.
