Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

We are requesting that all guests wear formal attire. For men, suits. For women, mid-long cocktail dresses, evening gowns, or sophisticated jumpsuits. The weather is mild this year: low-to-mid 70’s during the day, and low 60’s at night. Please keep in mind that Antigua has cobblestone streets and uneven sidewalks. Transportation will be provided between events to and from your hotel but comfortable shoes are recommended if you're walking around the city.

Question

What is recommended for transportation?

Answer

Guatemala City is the main airport you will want to fly into. From there, it is a 45 minute Uber ride to Antigua. The Uber will pick you up right outside of the airport exit doors. Uber is one of the best and most affordable ways to transport around Guatemala.

Question

Is Antigua, Guatemala safe?

Answer

YES! Since you are the most important people in our lives, we would never consider having our wedding anywhere unsafe. Antigua is one of the most popular tourist destinations across all of Central and South America. Like anywhere in the world, it's important to use good judgment and be vigilant to prevent petty crime like pickpocketing which is the biggest threat you would face in Antigua. It's also not recommended to walk around very late at night alone. Just like Guatemala's neighboring country Mexico, DO NOT drink water from faucets. Stick to bottled water and restaurants that use filtered water - even for ice cubes. It's not worth the risk! Your hotel will provide filtered water in the rooms and in the main areas. Uber is a safe mode of transportation and official taxis which you should always have your hotel call for. The crime rate in Antigua as a tourist destination is EXTREMELY low but Guatemala City does have dangerous "zones" that tourists are not sanctioned to enter; therefore, we don't recommend spending time there during your visit and you should head straight to Antigua from the airport -- the airport is in a safe zone. Your ride can pick you up right outside of the doors. Please refer to our Things To Do page for places we recommend visiting in and around Antigua.

Question

How much time do you recommend spending in Antigua?

Answer

At a minimum, 3-4 days should be sufficient: flying in Thursday or Friday, December 13th and leaving Monday, December 16th since the wedding is on Sunday, December 15th. We certainly hope that some of you can make the time to extend your trip and experience more of Antigua and the beautiful country and culture of Guatemala!

Question

How do I RSVP?

Answer

The RSVP link was included in the invitation and can also be found on the website here by navigating to the "RSVP" tab. Please RSVP by November 1, 2024.

Question

How do I get to the venues?

Answer

The hotels that we have recommended booking are centrally located in the heart of Antigua which is very walkable and accessible to the Convento Santa Clara ruins where the ceremony and cocktail hour will be held. The reception at Pensativo House Hotel is about a 10-minute walk away from Santa Clara but transportation will be provided between all events. Uber is always an easy option too while you're bopping around town! We will have "authentic" transportation available for guests as well between Santa Clara and Pensativo.

Question

What can I expect the weather to be like?

Answer

December is during Guatemala's dry season so rain is not typical (FINGERS CROSSED) but please check the weather the weekend of just in case! The average high in December is 74 degrees with a low of 54 degrees. You might want to bring a jacket / light shawl for night time.

Question

What time should I arrive to the ceremony?

Answer

Technically the Convento Santa Clara ruins are open to the public so you can arrive earlier in the day if you would like. As a wedding guest, you will not have to pay the typical fee unless you're there earlier in the day. We recommend you arrive at least 15 minutes early, by 3:15pm, to ensure you have plenty of time to navigate where you need to go in the ruins and can settle in.

Question

What is the wedding-day timeline?

Answer

Please expect the ceremony to last around 45 minutes (please be promptly in seat by 3:15pm). Cocktail hour is to follow in the Santa Clara ruins (4-5pm) for another hour and then we'll be providing a shuttle to the Pensativo House Hotel right down the street for dinner and celebrations until 10pm.

Question

Can I bring my children?

Answer

While we love your little ones, our wedding is an adults-only event. We know it's not easy but we appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time and leaving the kids at home so you can celebrate with us.

Question

What type of food and drinks will be served and when?

Answer

Welcome drinks and dinner will be served the night before the wedding at El Bosque de Antigua Cerveza: Saturday, December 14th. The day of, light bites and refreshments will be served at Cocktail Hour after the ceremony in Santa Clara from 4-5p followed by a three-course plated dinner at 6pm at Pensativo Hotel House.

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

Yes - drinks on us for the Welcome Party, Cocktail Hour, and Reception!

Question

Have you booked hotel room blocks for guests?

Answer

Yes, please refer to our "Travel" tab on the website here for more information on the hotels and discount codes. The main hotels will be Pensativo and Porta.

Question

Can I take pictures during the ceremony to post on social media?

Answer

We prefer our ceremony to be an intimate "no phones" event but we will be sure to share photos with everyone after the event! Please feel free to take as many photos as your heart desires at the Cocktail Hour and Reception. We'll also have disposable cameras available for fun.

Question

Where is the after party?

Answer

Great question :) After the main festivities, we will be hosting a gathering at a private home that is only a few minutes walk from the Reception at Pensativo House Hotel. For those who wish to attend, we will all head over there together and can provide the address.
