Jake and Lauren met while attending Oregon State University but didn't see each other again for 7 years until the Covid-19 pandemic brought Lauren back to Oregon. After each getting a "covid-puppy" mutual friends encouraged they get together to socialize their new dogs. Charlie and Chloe weren't the only ones who socialized at those early get togethers. Lauren had always thought that Jake was handsome from their years at Oregon State, but she quickly developed feelings for him when she realized how thoughtful, funny and kind he was. As Charlie and Chloe became inseparable, Jake's long-held crush on Lauren blossomed into a mutual attraction and strong partnership.

Jake will tell you that Lauren made the first move one night in college. That story is up for debate, but Lauren will admit to making the first move at a 2021 New Year's Eve party when she boldly asked him if he was still a good kisser!
