Hotel
This is the resort where all of the wedding activities will take place! Beautiful property + beaches. There will be a welcome event on Friday, October 24th & the wedding festivities on Saturday, October 25th. The resort requires that you stay at least two nights and that you arrive before Saturday for the wedding, but feel free to book a room for as many nights as you wish. Leave a comment on the booking that you will be with the Hunt + Tyree wedding. This is a beautiful but relatively affordable all inclusive resort that Laura and Alan have been to several times and love. All of the rooms are suites, so you cannot go wrong even with the basic room. We recommend that you create a rewards account with the hotel group so that you can access their automatic direct booking discount on rooms. Payment is NOT required upfront and they have a very flexible cancellation policy (full refund up until the week before your stay) so go ahead and book now if you think you might come!
Flight
The Cancun International Airport is large and has direct flights from many cities in the US with many different airlines. Please book your flights on your own time based on how many nights you will be staying. We recommend using Google Flights to track options and prices, typically the flights will be the most affordable about 3-5 months out. As a request, please use an incognito browser when looking at flights for the wedding so that the prices aren't influenced by activity.
Rental Car
You will need to schedule transportation to and from the airport and the resort. We have no plans to leave the resort during the weekend and typically find that booking a round trip airport transfer is the most affordable, safe, and efficient option. Linked below is the website for Holiday Taxis. We have used this company several times (recommended by the resort) and have had no issues. You can easily schedule your airport transfer by listing the Cancun airport and the resort name. It will ask for flight details to ensure timeliness, but you can add that later. Once you book, all information on contacting the company and finding them at the airport will be sent to you in an email confirmation. We recommend the private shuttle with no stops. Additionally, it is cheaper if you coordinate with friends and family on the same/similar flights as you to ride together. It is about a 30-50 min ride from the airport to the resort depending on traffic and the shuttle will have AC. Please keep a few dollars in cash on hand to tip your driver. If Holiday Taxis is unavailable or you would prefer to book with another company, please ensure that you check with the Cancun International Airport website to make sure they are an approved and recognized transportation service. If you prefer, car rental is an option (but is pretty pricey) and we would recommend going through National Car Rental or Enterprise. Free parking will be available at the resort.
Travel Note
If you have never traveled to the Cancun airport before, please be aware of some things for your arrival. You will go through customs after you exit the plane, have your passport ready and keep in mind the resort name you will be staying at, how many days you will be there, and when you will return. As you exit the airport, there will be a large number of people trying to talk to you about car rentals, shuttles, and taxis. This is why it is important that you have your transportation booked beforehand. You do not need to bother with making eye contact or responding to all of these people, just walk straight outside and find your transportation company.
