One of our favorite things to do is walk along Breckenridge main street and relax, shop, and check out all the fun stores and restaurants! There is always something new to discover!
Our favorite stop for local beer and food selections! Right around the corner from The Lodge - you can easily take the shuttle!
This is where we will be having our rehearsal dinner on Friday evening! It is the oldest operating bar in Breckenridge, Colorado, and a famous historic landmark. It boasts one of the longest continuously held liquor licenses west of the Mississippi River and has been pouring drinks since the 1860s gold rush. Between rustic decor, Western saloon feels, and great food, make sure not to miss this stop! ALSO there is a fun winery connected to the saloon - Carboy!
One of Breckenridge's newest hotels/bars, Gravity Haus. (Cabin Juice) offers fun food and drinks with an "apres" type of feeling. We've loved coming here!
Take the free gondola up to the base of the Breckenridge ski area! This is family and dog friendly, and runs daily 8am-5pm. Once you are at the top, you can walk around and take in the views, or visit one of the restaurants like "Seven's Restaurant" (Peak 7) or "Robbie's Tavern" (Peak 8). This is one of Breckenridge "musts"! You can either pay for parking near the base of the gondola, or take the shuttle from The Lodge for easy access.
We will be doing this one as a group hike on Thursday, for anyone that is in town! This is Laura's favorite hike in the area, offering stunning views of the Mayflower Gulch area as well as an old abandoned mining town. We will be parking at the large parking lot right off the highway (all vehicles welcome) and hiking up the trail to the gulch. This is an easier trail recommended for all hiking types, and offers scenic panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Dress comfortably, and we can't wait for you to join us!
Right down the road from The Lodge is a short walk and troll sculpture (Isak Heartstone) created by the artist Thomas Dambo, who is known worldwide for his artwork and awareness of environmental conservation. Swing by, take a picture, and say "hello" to Isak!
One of our favorite medium-level hikes in the area, Blue Lakes offers scenic views of the lower Blue Lake and upper reservoir. The trailhead requires AWD clearance, but is easy enough to follow. Mountain goats are frequently seen around this area!
One of Laura's favorite hikes in the area - Mohawk Lakes! Well worth the 9ish miles roundtrip, you get to view multiple stunning alpine lakes along the way. This hike is dog-friendly but keep an eye out for mountain goats!
If you are looking to get a "14er" while you are in Colorado, this is the one! WIth stunning overlooks of Blue Lakes, this is Laura's favorite 14er she has hiked here in Colorado. While hiking above 14,000ft is no easy feat, please make sure to check in and prepare well for this amazing adventure!
