“Colorado formal” means dressing up—but in a way that still feels comfortable, practical, and true to the setting. Think elevated but effortless: suits or sport coats, dresses or jumpsuits, paired with boots, nice sandals, or dressy flats (heels are welcome, but not required!). Layers are your best friend in the mountains—bring a jacket, shawl, or coat for cooler evenings. Overall vibe: polished but relaxed, stylish but not fussy… and always ready for a little fresh mountain air.
Altitude in Buena Vista is very real—at around 8,000 feet above sea level, you may feel the effects even if you’re normally active and healthy. It’s common to experience things like mild headaches, fatigue, or shortness of breath, especially on your first day. The best way to prepare is to hydrate well (and keep hydrating!), take it easy when you arrive, and give your body time to adjust. Alcohol and caffeine can hit harder at altitude, so we recommend pacing yourself and alternating with water. Sunscreen is also a must—the sun is stronger up here! A little preparation goes a long way in helping you feel your best all weekend.
Early October in Buena Vista is one of the most beautiful times of year, with crisp fall air, golden aspens, and plenty of sunshine. Days are typically mild and comfortable, while mornings and evenings can be quite chilly—especially once the sun goes down. Temperatures can vary significantly throughout the day, so we highly recommend dressing in layers and bringing a warm jacket. And because it’s Colorado…don’t be surprised if you experience a little bit of everything—sun, wind, or even a quick sprinkle (OR snow!)—all in one day!
While we love your little ones, we kindly ask that our wedding celebration and all associated events be an adults-only affair. We hope this allows everyone to relax, unwind, and fully enjoy the weekend with us. We truly appreciate you making arrangements in advance and thank you for helping us create a fun, celebratory atmosphere for all of our guests.
Due to space and planning considerations, we’re only able to accommodate plus-ones for guests who are specifically listed on the invitation. If a plus-one has been reserved for you, it will be clearly indicated when you receive your invitation. We truly appreciate your understanding and can’t wait to celebrate with you!
