Love at first sight is real. Sitting with a group of my friends I saw a guy walk into the bar. Not just "a" guy, but "the" guy. Saratoga in the summertime is the place to be, and Bailey's was hopping that evening. People were coming and going for dinner and the bar was packed, but when Alex walked in everything stopped. He was out to dinner with some of his friends and sat down a few tables away. There was something about the way he carried himself; the Nantucket reds he was wearing and his welcoming smile, it drew me in. I knew I had to talk to him. My friend told me to wait, to give him time to have dinner, but in true Amy style I called the bartender over. I asked her to bring a round of shots, green tea of course, to his table. I got one for myself as well and when they were delivered to his table the waitress pointed over to me. I raised my glass in salute, we all took the shot, and then I walked over to introduce myself. After chatting for a while and practically inviting myself to join their group, we bounced around the town all evening. The following week we made plans to meet for dinner. Our first date. He met me at work, and we walked a few blocks up to Walt Whitman Brewery. After stuffing ourselves with pizza and chatting for hours, our fates had been sealed...even if he didn't know it at the time. Over these past few years our love has grown exponentially. We have traveled together, moved twice, enjoyed watching friends welcome new babies, celebrated marriages, supported each other through the loss of loved ones, and cheered each other on when receiving job promotions and career advancement. Now, we have decided to commit ourselves to each other. Neither Alex nor I can imagine a life without the other. We are so excited and honored to share our special day with you all.
