Things To Do

Deception Pass State Park

41229 State Route 20, Oak Harbor, WA 98277

We had our engagement photoshoot here and it's one of our favorite places on the mainland side of Puget Sound. Great trails and views of the current-swept passage between Whidbey and Fidalgo Islands. Note that most parking areas require a Discover (state park) Pass.

Mount Vernon

735 Main St, Mount Vernon, WA 98273

Downtown Mt. Vernon has too many restaurants, breweries, and shops to give justice to on this page, but is well worth spending time in. Also a great place to walk along the Skagit River and learn about the regional history!

Farmstrong Brewing + Taproom

110 Stewart Road, Mount Vernon, WA 98273

Great brewery with indoor seating and a family-friendly outdoor beer garden with food trucks, one of Tim's favorite breweries in Skagit Co.

Friday Harbor

2 Front St., Friday Harbor, WA 98250

This is where Kyra fell in love with Washington, while working at UW's Friday Harbor Labs. The town of Friday Harbor is very walkable with many shops, restaurants, and activities worth your visit! We would recommend parking your car at the Anacortes Ferry Terminal and walking on, and enjoying the ferry ride through the islands. This would be a great day-trip if you're planning on staying in the area for the whole weekend!

Penguin Coffee

2119 Commercial Avenue, Anacortes, WA 98221

Tim and Kyra both independently found this coffee shop passing through Anacortes on the way to the Shannon Point and Friday Harbor Marine Labs, and as a couple it's become one of our must-stops in Anacortes!

Roozengaarde

15867 Beaver Marsh Road, Mount Vernon, WA 98273

It's not the springtime tulip fields Skagit is known for but Rozengaarde sells bulbs and cut flowers throughout the fall!

T-Mobile Park

1250 1st Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98134

Cheering for the Mariners at the Corner of Edgar and Dave's is Tim's happy place and I owe it to the Angels fans on the Anderson side to note that they play each other Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon, should that information be relevant to any travel planning...
