Our FAVORITE beaches. To get to St John it is a quick 20-45 minute ferry ride from Red Hook (20 min) or Charlotte Amalie (45 min) to Cruz Bay; leaving hourly from Red Hook (you can check the ferry schedule online for more specifics). Once you get off the ferry there will be a line of taxis, just name your location and they will escort you to the correct open air taxi headed that direction. Please make sure to have cash and exact change (as they often like to play a game of "sorry I don't have change/singles" leaving them with more money than the ride costs). P.S. Troy and I's favorite game plan is to start at Maho Beach, known for wandering donkeys and limitless sea turtles; this is the last beach along the string of beaches. We then hop back on taxis at check out various beaches along the way back (start at the end and work our way back). Our favorite beach is Trunk Bay for its easily accessible BEAUTY, with our close runner up being Honeymoon Bay if youre up for a short hike.
