Answer

U.S. citizens do not need a passport to visit St. Thomas, but it still serves as the best identification when traveling. Otherwise, you must be prepared to show evidence of citizenship when departing the islands, such as a raised-seal birth certificate and government-issued photo ID. If you are not a U.S. citizen, then a passport issued by your country of origin is required. If you are not sure of your status, please contact the U.S. Customs & Border Protection agency (www.cbp.gov).

Question

What to expect with Taxis in St. ThomasWhat to expect with Taxis in St. Thomas

Answer

Official taxis in the USVI are regulated, requiring specific identification: a taxi license plate, a "Taxi" dome light, a rate sheet, and a visible driver permit. Uber and Lyft do not operate in the USVI. Taxis are mostly shared vans or open-air safari trucks. Rates are set by the VI Taxicab Division and are charged PER PERSON (regardless of party size). Word to the wise, if you find a taxi driver that you like I recommend asking for their card/number so you have someone to contact when out and about the island and cant locate any taxis for a pickup. Most hotels, beaches or city areas will have Taxis readily available waiting out front, just waive them down. Here's a few contacts incase you are in a bind: • Kelle’s Taxi – (340) 244-2897 • Big Love’s Taxi – (340) 201-7299 • East End Taxi – (340) 775-6974 https://www.saintthomastaxi.com/rates.html
