In the midst of the infamous year, 2020—when toilet paper felt like a luxury item and socializing felt illegal—Kamille moved into her mom's new home but just by herself at this point. She became a little restless and, to avoid going completely insane, she decided to apply for a job at her local Raley's grocery store. Little did she know, that decision would change her life. Enter Kyle. He had recently traded in his popcorn bag for a grocery apron after the movie theater where he worked temporarily closed. At first, they didn’t cross paths much—she was at the front, ringing up customers while he was tucked away in the back. Their interactions were limited, but he ended up training her one night on closing duties. However, Kamille was reserved, quiet, and barely spoke. They both assumed the other didn't really care for them much. Fast forward a few months, and Kamille was becoming more open and personable and an unofficial 'favorite cashier'. One day, she got to cross-train Kyle on his first day as a cashier. That morning, while they were both masked up and bustling about, Kamille shared with another coworker a story about a deer that had hit her car. Kyle overheard, asked her about it, and told her, "If it makes you feel any better, my old Jeep got stolen while I was at work at the theatre and got driven into a pond in Lamoille." Kyle continued to tell the whole tale of seeing his Jeep leave the parking lot, cops chasing it down in a high-speed chase all the way up into Lamoille, and it being crashed into a pond with the thief emerging pants-free! Kamille stood there, mouth agape—half shocked, half amused. She finally replied, “Okay, yeah, I guess that does make me feel a little better!” From then on, Kamille was little more excited about going to work. But one week, when Kamille didn’t see Kyle for three days, she became worried that maybe he had quit. She ended up messaging him, and it turned out, he was just at home sick. That little check-in sparked a lot of chatting, and their crushes began to grow. One evening, while Kamille was working in floral and Kyle was ringing people up, he needed help with a tag. She walked over with scissors, he snipped it off, handed back the scissors, and said, “Thanks, you’re the best.” Kamille felt her face become very warm. She returned behind the floral counter, grinning like an idiot under her mask, and when she accidentally made eye contact with him, she ducked down like a startled prairie dog. Yeah, he definitely didn't see that... Despite her embarrassing move, they kept chatting, and Kyle finally asked her out for lunch at Himikos. After a fun first date, they planned a movie date next. After the movie, they talked for quite some time and shared their first kiss. A few days later, while chatting with a coworker, Kyle accidentally called her his “girlfriend.” Realizing he hadn’t actually asked her, he suddenly got nervous and said, “Is it okay if I call you that?” Kamille smiled; she happily confirmed he could definitely call her his girlfriend. And just like that, their adventure began. They worked together a lot more often, snuck in lunches together, and created countless memories. Fast forward five years, Kyle's an amazing teacher, Kamille is working on finally finishing her degree, and on their 5-year anniversary during a couple's photo shoot, Kyle popped the question. Of course, through tears and an ugly crying face, Kamille said yes! Over their years together, they have always been there for each other- through amazing, exciting moments, the trying, difficult moments, and everything in between. Now, with an abundance of memories, experiences, and love, they’re excited to continue to build a future full of even more love and adventures- except now, as husband and wife:)
