Where it Started

August 2012

Kurt & Krysy met during their Sophomore year at the University of Vermont. It was the first day of Eco-Reps, their on-campus job where they had to convince people to recycle and wear veggie mascots to encourage composting (yes there are photos).....Anyways, Kurt & Krysy were partners from the start since they lived in the same complex, and right away they were friends. Sparks really flew when they walked around the dorms wearing "recycle me" signs and there was nothing but laughter and smiles while Kurt climbed into the dumpster to break down boxes.

The In-between

2012 - 2021

Their story has had to overcome challenges, breakups, long distances, 13+ hour car rides, and a pandemic. Yet, it's only made their relationship stronger. From the time they met through college graduation, they spent their time having fun with classic college shenanigans like making friends, studying abroad, going to concerts/parties, going mountain biking at Burke, snowboarding at Sugarbush, basking in the Burlington summers, and of course, getting an education... After college, Kurt found a job at VEIC and stayed in Burlington while Krysy completed her service with AmeriCorps and the Peace Corps in Jamaica. Kurt laid down roots in VT, found a community, and grew his passion for mountain biking. Krysy explored her career path and ultimately decided to move back to VT in 2017. They reconnected after some time apart and then decided to move together to Waterbury when Kurt started a job with Cabot. In 2019, they adopted their second dog, Aspen, and Rowdy became a big brother. While they loved VT, Kurt & Krysy decided that it was time for them to move out west, and in 2020, they moved to Washington. Kurt and Krysy were very thankful to have each other throughout the pandemic. When they moved to WA, the world was shut down. Living with some of their closest friends, Monica & Danny & Douglas (Aspen's best friend), they spent a lot of time baking, snowboarding, binging Netflix, and getting through the winter. Though little did they know 2021 would be so eventful. Kurt and Krysy bought their first home together in the Spring of 2021, created a tight-knit community throughout the summer, plus rode bikes (a lot).

The Proposal

July 2021

Fast forward to nearly a decade after their first day of Eco-Reps, Krysy & Kurt find themselves on a backpacking trip in the Enchantments with some of their closest friends - Pat, Madi, Liz, and Bennett. After hiking all day and finally looking for a place to camp, Kurt couldn't stop running around like a maniac, unbeknownst to Krysy that he's trying to find the perfect spot to propose. After moving sites (twice), they find a perfect spot to set up, make some margaritas (priorities) and find a spot for the sunset. Pat suggests they take "Couple Photos" overlooking the mountains. When it's Kurts & Krysy's turn, Kurt gets down on one knee and proposes. What's Krysy's reaction? "I should've had another drink" and then obviously she said yes.
