Covid & Other FAQS

The Wedding Website of Kristin Born and Paul Smalera
Photo: Masks (flimsy ones, oops) at Mount Rushmore. We have carefully thought about the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in regards to planning our wedding. It brightens our hearts to see the rapid progress made with regards to vaccinations and are happy to say that anyone who has received both doses of their vaccine may attend our wedding mask-free.
Question

What will the wedding be like as far as COVID goes?

Answer

We are hoping for the best — a completely normal event where all our guests are able to mingle freely and safely with each other. As of June, the Inns of Aurora are following both federal and state guidelines. UPDATE: Anyone that has received both doses of their vaccine can attend the wedding mask free- provided you are outdoors (e.g. at the ceremony and the reception). However, the Inn requires masks for all guests (vaccinated and not) when you are indoors in any building owned by the Inns of Aurora, unless you are a guest of and indoors at either the Rowland or EB Morgan House. All Inns of Aurora staff are vaccinated and will be wearing masks during the event. The Inn will provide masks and sanitizer as needed for our guests safety. If you have not received both doses of your vaccine, we ask that you take a covid test 48-72 hours prior to attending the wedding and follow the CDC guidelines on masks.

Question

What can I do to prepare?

Answer

If and when you are able and eligible, we would urge you to get vaccinated as soon as possible. And, if you are feeling unwell or are exposed to Covid in the days leading up to the wedding, we ask that you not attend our wedding. We would miss you terribly, but we would be beyond grateful for your selflessness, and we will make plans to see you when it is safe to do so.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Lakeside cocktail attire — we want you to be as comfortable as possible at our wedding. If that means a suit and tie or a cocktail dress, great! If you’re more comfortable in slacks and a beachy maxi dress, that’s great with us, too. August can be unpreditable with weather with highs in the 90s and lows in the 60s, watch the weather and bring layers! Most of all, make sure that you are comfortable enough to take stroll on the lawn, enjoy some yard games and dance the night away.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

For our out-of-town guests, we have a room block at the Inns of Aurora. Or for other accommodation recommendations see the Travel section of our wedding website.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Please let us know of any dietary restrictions when you RSVP, either digitally through the RSVP section of our wedding website or on your RSVP card received with your wedding invitation.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Yes! The hotel has a parking lot to the left of the main Inn (where the ceremony and reception will be held), as well as ample street parking.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotels to the ceremony?

Answer

Our ceremony, reception and room block at the Inns of Aurora is walkable. For transportation from other area hotels, please make inquiries with the hotel's reception.
