Oak Openings Preserve Metropark
We love the Oak Openings! There are multiple spots to explore with miles and miles of trails suitable for walking, biking, and running! They also offer camping and lodging with a unique tree house village. Check out this beautiful park just minutes from our house! We love doing quick runs at Springbrook Lake (great biking spot, too!) and running at Evergreen Lake for a little longer loop just over a mile. The main park has multiple mile trails that are just wonderful, especially for spring birding!
Wildwood Preserve Metropark
Popular Metropark in the Toledo area about 35 mins from us. It offers both paved and dirt trails and a large playground great for kids. Enjoy beautiful English gardens around the Manor House or more seclusion amongst the woods. A really well rounded park that we considered as a potential venue!
Sauder Village
Living History Museum and Farm that offers to transport you back in time to the late 1800s, right around the time our historic home was built! An easy experience for those staying at the Sauder Heritage Inn to explore. Don't worry, the Heritage Inn has all the modern day amenities!
Downtown Toledo
There are so many restaurants to enjoy in downtown Toledo! We particularly love Home Slice Pizza, PizzaPapalis for deep dish, and Manhattan's Pub! Other Toledo favorites include Tony Packo's hotdogs, Ye Olde Durty Bird, and Blarney's just to name a few.
