Shaker Village is a National Historic Landmark, featuring the country’s largest private collection of original 19th century buildings. Accommodations feel more like an inn than a hotel, with several guest rooms and common space located in each building. Every room or suite has a private bathroom. Please note that some buildings have wifi while others do not - please check the details on all of the rooms available in our room block to make sure you choose a room that fits your needs.
We will create a tab here on this website where you will be able to RSVP. No need to worry about this until we send out formal invitations!
If your invitation says "and Guest," then yes, you are welcome to bring a friend or loved one. If not, we would prefer if it was just you. We hope to have a weekend filled with the folks whom we know and love.
Knock on wood, this will hopefully be our only wedding, so we want you to look nice! But, our venue is outdoors and rustic, so we also want you to be comfortable. Please choose what you think would be appropriate for the venue and occasion. The ceremony will be held in a semi-shaded meadow, while the reception will be in an old tobacco barn, a short walk away along a gravel road. While we will have a dance floor, the barn floor is gravel. On a related note, September weather in Kentucky can be unpredictable! It could be up to 90 during the day and down to 50 at night; please check the weather before you come, and bring some layers!
If you are flying into LEX, there would definitely be Ubers and Lyfts around. They might grumble about driving on some 20 mph windy roads along the Kentucky River out to Shaker Village, but they would likely do it. That being said, we have no guarantees that you would be able to call a ride from Harrodsburg. We have looked on the app and have never seen a driver in town. If you are as risk averse as me (Krissy), I would not recommend taking this gamble. Renting a car or coordinating with others is ideal!
