By sea or air, getting to Catalina is easy and fun. You can get to Catalina Island by ferry from four mainland ports in Southern California – San Pedro, Long Beach, Dana Point – and the ride is only about an hour by boat or 15 minutes by helicopter. Helicopter services are available from Long Beach, San Pedro, Burbank Airport and John Wayne Airport/SNA. ****We Highly Recommend catching the Catalina Express from Long Beach for out-of- towners. Once on the Island, the town of Avalon is easy to navigate by foot – Avalon is only about 1 square mile. Taxis and shuttle buses can take you to your destination. If you book your flight into LGB Long Beach to the Catalina Express Ferry Building: allow (20-30 mins. in Taxi). If you book into John Wayne or LAX to the Catalina Express Ferry Building: allow (45-90 mins.) pending LA traffic.
