Hotel
*Please call the resort and mention our name to book* This is the resort where our wedding festivities will be held and our recommended accommodation choice! Our guests do have a room block for May 4 - 7 at a discounted price. There are 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom beach cottages that are $239 USD/night + tax and 2 bedroom villas that are $555 USD/night + tax. All are beachfront but the villas have full kitchens and living spaces in them! There is an onsite restaurant and bar. Meal Plans are available for purchase during your stay.
Flight
You can get to Long Island through Nassau. Most major airlines fly into Nassau (NAS). There are two airports on Long Island. Stella Maris Airport (SML) is very close to the resort. Deadman's Cay (LGI) is on the other end of the island. While you can get to the resort from either airport, it is recommended to try to fly into Stella Maris. There are a few different options when booking flights.
Flight
Southern Air Charters is a Bahamian airline that travels through the Bahamas and Caribbean. They fly from Nassau to Long Island daily.
Flight
This is another Bahamian airline that provides regularly scheduled flights. They also fly into Nassau.
Flight
Another option is a charter flight through Stella Maris Air Services. They offer ‘per-seat pricing’. This is a smaller "hopper" type plane so luggage is limited. Please pack light!! You can catch a charter flight from Nassau or Georgetown. The resort can help you book these flights.
Travel Note
Once you have determined your arrival time on Long Island at either SML or LGI, contact the resort at resort@capesantamaria.com and they will arrange a taxi to pick you up. Taxi fares are as follows: From Stella Maris Airport (SML) – $30/couple plus $3/each additional passenger From Deadmans Cay Airport (LGI) – $110/couple plus $10/each additional passenger
House Or Rental
There are some houses and cottages for rent on the island through Air BnB. If you would like your own space, you are more than welcome to just join us at the resort for the festivities! BUT keep in mind, you will likely have to rent a car to get around the island. There are limited taxis on the island that would be able to transport you to the wedding.
Rental Car
If you do plan to explore the island during your stay, I recommend hiring a car. The resort can help you get one booked. The island is called Long Island for a reason! Everything is pretty spread out! There is also the option of hiring a captain or boat if you prefer to explore by sea!
Travel Note
- Please keep in mind we are traveling to a remote location. Many every day essentials and luxuries will not be available once you land on Long Island. There is a small grocery store you can stop at on the way to the resort so you have some snacks and goodies in your room during your stay. Any special items you may need should be purchased before your flight out to the islands! - Cash is another item that may be hard to come by when you get to Long Island. U.S. Dollars are interchangeable with the Bahamian Dollar so make sure to pick some up in the U.S. or Nassau before hopping on your final flight. - The best advice I have ever received while traveling through the islands is this: "There is no hospital around the corner, no ambulance close by, so DON'T DO ANYTHING STUPID." 😂 If you follow this advice, you will have a wonderful time in this beautiful place!
