We have our wonderful friends, Nick and Jenn Jollye, to thank for introducing us at their wedding in St. Augustine back in 2018. We bumped into each other on the dancefloor while the Cupid Shuffle started to play. John, being an Aussie guy, had never heard of this magical dance so Hannah had to come to the rescue and show him how it was done! We spent the whole night getting to know each other and the sparks were flying!

Luckily for us, John continued to Mexico immediately after our initial meeting. A million texts and long FaceTime chats later, John rerouted his journey home to Australia through Tampa Bay so we could spend more time together. Our first official "date" HAD to be going to the most magical place on Earth. (Hannah has been a Disney fanatic all her life growing up in Florida and one of the things that instantly connected us was John’s Rafiki tattoo! 🙈) Best day ever! *Cue the matching Disney shirts*

John and Hannah officially started dating when he returned to America for Thanksgiving weekend. Kind of like "Hey, get roasted by my family through Thanksgiving dinner and we will go from there!" (John fit right into the Shuman Household.. 😂) When someone fits into your family, you just know. ♥

When the opportunity came up to visit Australia for an extended period of time, Hannah jumped at the chance to be on the same continent as John. (You have no idea what crazy hours international couples keep!😴 ) The next seven months consisted of so many amazing adventures throughout Australia from diving the Great Barrier Reef to cuddling koalas and kangaroos and all that Australian stuff! 🐨

After Hannah’s visit, long distance commenced again until March of 2020. Hannah was visiting John for her Spring Break, BUT a little virus showed up and international travel bans were introduced while she was still in Sydney! With a concern we would be separated for quite some time, we decided to stay together in Sydney. ♥

John popped the question while we were on a road trip exploring the beaches of Western Australia. During our stop in Esperance, with beautiful blue water in the background, John got on one knee. We are both so excited to have all of our family and friends FINALLY together to share and celebrate our love!
