We know you’re probably not that excited about taking a grand vacation to the Great Plains, the home of the Oracle of Omaha, the Silicone Prairie. And how do we know? Because Cameron was once like you. “Omaha? What could possibly be there?” It didn’t take much convincing from Emily to get Cameron to embrace “The Good Life” and see that Omaha actually has a lot to offer. We hope after a few days in our city, you’ll feel the same.
Cameron and Emily met in 2013, at a Halloween Party, but it was two more years before they reconnected and fell in love. During those two years, they both happened to join the River City Mixed Chorus (RCMC). Emily and Cameron both grew up surrounded by music and were searching for a way to keep music in their adult lives as well. They each searched for a community that suited their needs (Cameron had a foray in community theater and Emily tried church choir), but didn’t find their perfect fit until they joined RCMC. It took one season singing together in the Soprano section for them to fall in love over Christmas carols.
In the last 5 years, we’ve been building a life together here in Omaha. We’ve adopted two cats, moved three times, changed jobs a combination of six times (that was mostly Cameron), and explored greater Nebraska’s beauty. Now, we live in a great neighborhood with easy access to our favorite board game café, coffee shop, and all vegan restaurant. From August to December, we spend our Saturdays cheering “Go Big Red” at Memorial Stadium. The rest of the year, you’ll find us hiking nature trails in the area, visiting our favorite art museum, and going to see movies at our local theaters. All this to say, we don’t think you’ll be disappointed with our city! We hope after a weekend here, you’ll see why Cameron was so easily convinced—although that might have been more about falling in love.
