Travel Note
- Things to Do in Alba: Alba is a walkable town with many shops, cafes, bars, and restaurants. For additional activities, guided tours, and local experiences, please visit the official tourism website: https://www.visitlmr.it/en - Other places to Stay: Our selected hotel is L’Hotel Calissano, but there are other hotels and Airbnbs in the area if you prefer to stay elsewhere. For more options and information on other accommodations, please visit the official tourism website: https://www.visitlmr.it/en - Other Transportation: For travel outside of wedding events, a train is available from Milan to Alba (book on your own or with travel agent). Rental car arrangements can also be coordinated through the travel agent, but we would recommend public transportation or taxi/ride share when available over rental cars. - Currency & Payments: Italy uses the Euro (€). It’s a good idea to travel with some cash, although most establishments accept credit cards (Visa and Mastercard are the most widely accepted). Please check your card’s foreign transaction fees before traveling. If you plan to withdraw cash from your bank, allow a few days for delivery and make arrangements at least a few weeks before your flight to avoid delays. -Travel Adapter: Italy uses Type C/F outlets, so you'll want to bring a travel adapter (plenty to choose from on Amazon!). - Cultural Tips & Etiquette: Tipping is not required in Italy. Service workers earn a livable wage, so tipping is not customary. - Language Barrier: Most workers in Milan and Alba speak at least some English, especially those at the airport or any store/cafè/restaurant. If you need assistance in a pinch, Google and Apple Translate are excellent tools. Common Italian Phrases: Ciao – Hi / Bye (informal) Salve – Hello (formal) Buongiorno – Good morning / good day (used most of the day) Buonasera – Good evening Arrivederci – Goodbye (formal) Grazie – Thank you Prego – You’re welcome Per Favore - Please
